2-0 with a good win over Harvard last night. Lets see if we can keep it going, which with this team's history is not a likely prospect.

Was impressed with the win last night even though Harvard is not projected to be as good as the last few years. Lavietes has been a tough place to play for opponents. Wasn't expecting much from this team; if they can get to the NIT or the new postseason tournament in Vegas it's a real successful season IMO.

Complete domination over Clemson. Onto the final of the MGM Grand tournament. Wednesday at 9:30 on ESPN2.

Three-headed guard monster all shooting over 40% from deep and over 75% from the line. With their lineup construction over the last several years, consistent outside shooting was one of the main things they really needed but never could get.

Well, this season is as dead as this thread after last night's fifth straight loss, at home by 11 to an 8-11 Saint Louis team.

I hope the recruiting class stays committed and lives up to the hype, because the Kellogg contract extension looks pretty bad right now.

UMass snapped its 7-game losing streak Tuesday night, beating the URI Rams 61-56 in overtime.

UMass moves to 9-12 (2-7). 2,423 thrilled fans turned up at the Mullins Center. Derek Kellogg is still making over $900,000 this season.

I don't give 2 shits about UMass hoops, but it was my understanding that the incoming recruiting class is getting some high praise.

Rivals has it 27th.

That is enough for him to keep his job, but that losing streak was a disaster. The expectations were low for this team (Preseason 10th in the league), but they are under-performing even that. Derek's strength is supposed to be recruiting. He's nowhere near a good enough game coach to overcome a lack of talent (Which makes sense since Calipari is not a great game manager).

I really don't care he's paid 900K since whoever replaces him will likely make just as much.

Maybe, but if so, because of the unnecessary contract extension, the school would be paying $2 million a year through 2019 for a basketball coach for a team that hasn't won a tournament game in 20 years, and is drawing high school-sized crowds. I get the "it's not my money" mantra with pro teams, but when we're talking about a public university it's a little different.
