I was surprised that they didn't seem to look too closely at whether that goal was offside. Man U only scored because PSG shat themselves for a minute. Otherwise, it's utter dominance.

PSG really controlling play. They’ve struggled in the latter stages of this competition like many non La Liga sides but they look quite formidable

I can't believe Man U is winning this game. It feels like they've had the ball for a combined 1 minute!

Going into the match I got an Argentina-France vibe in that MAN U (like Argentina) has weapons and on paper can be a good team at times, but ultimately lack a good plan for defending a more talented opponent. PSG (like France) have an insane squad and would be expected to win by most observers. The start to this match played out fairly similarly.

The thing about PSG is they are depending on inconsistent (Di Maria) and somewhat untested (Draxler) players. Di Maria looks up for this match and he can still be a game changer on his day, but I would not want him being the guy to depend on as the opponents continue to get tougher. Of course, I think that Mbappe is probably the second best player in the world behind Messi and he by himself will win trophies for his club. If they get Ney and Cavani back, it will be fun to watch them (presumably) match up with the likes of (presumably) MANC, Barca, Atleti, Spurs (gulp!), et al.

I was ending up at nutflick which definitely means something else.

PSG still carrying play but United coming into it a bit more. PSG May face a nervy final 20 minutes

Man. Buffon is never gonna win the Champions League, huh? And he'll be thinking about that mistake earlier.

But this is bullshit.

What an incredible result. The three goals were two bad mistakes and an awful call, and in between PSG dominated the game.

I’m trying to see this from the referee’s point of view.

He can’t be arguing intent.

Is he saying that the defender is making himself bigger?

I am having a hard time with this. Buffon is my favorite footballer, period. My heart aches for him.

Yeah, the PSG player sticks his arm out while still looking at the ball, and jumps and turns away with his arm still out.

There's a lot of wiggle room for a player protecting themselves or for a bang-bang play, but it doesn't really qualify for either of those.

After the standard they set with Otamendis hand ball against Schalke I can’t say I was surprised.

If they’re going to slow mo every potential handball in the box and call them all penalties like they are supposedly changing the rule to then there’s gonna be more nonsense like this to come via VAR

"Arm out" is harsh - it's pretty close to his side.

Can't believe the studio crew all seem so OK with how that turned out. Wow.

Whatever. Kimpembe should have been sent off in the first half of the first leg then scores the goal. It was a weak pk call, not the worst I’ve seen. I don’t give a toss.

There are going to be four Premier League teams in the quarters. Damn.

And I am really happy to see PSG out.

They just give Ole the job in the locker room, right? They can’t do a former hero dirty, can they?

I'd say he isn't just a former hero for United right now.

Although I don't think it takes a genius to figure out things like "We don't always need to have 3 holding midfielders" and "Paul Pogba is good at soccer and should be starting in the appropriate position."

Buffon disgraced himself last year over a debatable pen. Again, I’m a fanboy.

Today... If he hadn’t spilled the weak one he’d have been well within his rights to throw last year’s fit. The more I watch that replay, the less I understand it against today’s laws. With the proposed changes (any touch to an arm is a foul), then yeah. But this? Match-deciding bullshit.

I think given their recent form, Liverpool have their work cut out for themselves. I'd still put them as slight favorites b/c of away goals, but it's going to be tough.

That, and given DFB's whack job of Müller, Hummels, and Boateng this past week, all three of those guys are going to be playing with a chip on their shoulder. Coman being out for the return leg is a relief for Liverpool, but Gnabry / Müller is going to be no picnic for Arnold / Robertson. I'm not exactly an optimist, but it feels close to a 50/50
