Holy shit what?
That's nuts. I thought Toronto's concern was lack of pitching? Where does Reyes play now, second base?
As if Toronto needed MORE offense...
I really cannot wait to hear the details on this, starting with what position Tulo is going to play.
I'm not exactly up on either one of their defensive abilities, but both are still reasonably good shortstops, no?
Isn't their second baseman that stud youngster Travis? Wondering if he is going the other way.
Reyes is no longer a good defensive shortstop.
What a weird trade.
My first thought was Reyes to 2B, but they have a guy there (Travis) who is having a very good season. Maybe Reyes or Travis is on the move as part of this or another trade.
Damn, their lineup is going to become even more brutal.
Reyes and "minor leaguers" going to Colorado
Tulo's contract has a provision where if he gets traded he gets a full no-trade clause. Read Rockies will pay his salary for rest of this season. That means, the Jays are on the hook for a minimum of $98 Million until the end of 2020 (including a $4M buyout - or $15M for 2021). That's a lot of loonies if he can't stay on the field.
Then Tulo at short makes sense. And I bet Travis stays at 2nd. So I wonder where Reyes ends up.
EDIT: Apparently in Denver
Tulo on turf will be interesting
Well healthcare is cheaper in Canada.
Jays also getting 97-year-old LaTroy Hawkins
The rocks need pitching. They already have an all-star 2B in lemahieu and a ss in aaa banging on the door (Trevor story)
I somewhat expect Reyes will be flipped to another team. He's got to be useful to a contender, and he's not exactly the type of player Colorado is going to want to build around.
Have to assume the "minor leaguers" includes at least 1 of the Jays' 3 best pitching prospects.
So who does that leave in their top 6? Barretto, Pompey and Sanchez?
Barreto is in Oakland now. If Sanchez is the centerpiece thats a steal.
Reyes a part of this, according to local sources, which makes no sense for the rocks
Wow. Didn't see that coming. Guess ten years later Tor makes up for not drafting him. Can't wait for Law to weigh in.
Forgot about that.
Tulo, Donaldson, Bautista, Encarnacion. Gonna be wonderful facing these guys.
Martin is no slouch at the plate.
They've got to be spinning him, maybe to the Mets for pitching?
Yeah. Now reports of a 3rd team involved, though it isn't clear who yet. Makes sense if Reyes is involved
Reports from where?
2015 Jays are looking a lot like the 2003 Red Sox infield in terms of strength. Of course, in 2015 that's a lot scarier.
Local media (here in Colorado). I would link tweets but don't know how and don't use Twitter myself.
Nothing definitive yet, though
Jesse Rogers @ESPNChiCubs
Rockies bus still here waiting for Tulo who's been behind closed doors since game ended 8m
Phew. I was worried the Jays would end up landing one of the top starters they've been linked too - Hamels, Carrasco, Samardzija. This does nothing to address their pitching issues in 2015 and beyond.
If they didn't give up at least 3 of their 5 best prospects, they still have plenty of ammo to go get a starter.
This doesn't mean they're done. They're not giving up any top prospects in this deal.
Chris cotillo, for one
Miguel Castro looks like he'll be one of the prospects.

Trade is now believed to be a straight-up, two-team deal.
Yeah, cotillo and others changing their tune. Still think the rocks will look to flip Reyes; he makes little sense for them
That is Chris Cotillo shtick. When it sounds like something will happen, he then adds "SOURCES" and let's it play out, collecting credit when the obvious happens.
Jon Heyman @JonHeymanCBS
two more minor leaguers will go to rockies in deal. so deal is tulo and hawkins for reyes, castro & 2 minor leaguers.
Heyman also says no money is involved
Canadian baseball just got more interesting. Contrary to local grumbling, Rogers actually spent big for a trade target. It'll make for some heated discussion at the next bridge tournament. I have to think that Anthopolous has comparable resources at his disposal to improve the pitching staff, because the Jays look right now like all RH offense, no pitching. Donaldson-Bautista-Encarnacion-Tulowitzki-Martin is a Polite Murderers' Row.
I wouldn't say I'm a Rockies fan... but living in Denver I'd like to see baseball do well here. If this deal brings them pitching, and flipping Reyes brings more pitching, then this could end up being a great set of moves for the Rockies. They've got Story and Gray in AAA... and a fairly good core to build around in the majors.
Bowden is clueless
Water is also wet.
Tulo is stiIl a solid player, but he turns 31 this fall and that contract has future albatross written all over it. In huge capitol letters. The prospect haul trade possibility was always a pipe dream.
All things considered, I actually think the Rockies did ok there if they don't end up eating any more of that contract beyond this year. Sucks to see the Jays' lineup get better in the short term, but seeing that cheap ownership treat it like a completely crippling factor latter will more then make up for it on the back end.
Brutal trade for the Blue Jays. It amazes me that the Blue Jays GM holds on to his job.
Both contracts are terrible, but Tulo's contract is for more years and money (around 50 million more). Meanwhile, the Blue Jays give up a really good prospect in Hoffman.
The Rockies win this trade big time. They pick up a young starter who has a high ceiling (Hoffman) while dumping Tulo's contract. Sure, they have Reyes' contract to deal with, but it is more manageable. I presume they could turn around and trade Reyes and money for a good prospect.
What are the Blue Jays playing for anyway? They aren't as good as the Yankees. They are still competing for the second wild card, but they are one of several teams competing for that spot and this deal hurts the Blue Jays in the long run. If they had to trade Hoffman, it makes more sense to keep Reyes (and save 50 million) while using Hoffman in a package for a SP.
