That's too bad, because I crack up when I hear the Felger/Mazz/Tanguay stuff. Felger actually said that he would take Fred "into a dark ally, and have a Farve sucks-off".

He said that on the radio.

Really broke me up. I'm not a grown up though.

And it was funny, so funny that Felger was making fun of himself for saying it the next day.

It was actually hilarious the first 50 times they played it. Now it is just getting old because Felger and Mazz have stopped giving them ammunition ever since Mazz called them Torville and Dean.

I like them and if my options are political chatter or that, I'll take that. But beating a dead horse isn't going to get me to listen to them over Brady talking about the Seymour trade.

Does Brady ever say anything interesting? Not really, it was a decent interview about the nature of the business, how it was handled in the locker room, and why they kind of have to trust the coaches and team management. Nothing earth shattering, but it is when you compare it to a computerized voice reading bad emails and T&R douching on F&M using the same bits that they were regurgitating from last week.

3 days out of 5 T&R are going to win out, but like I said before when D&C are actually talking sports without letting politics get in the way, they are going to beat T&R, especially when they are playing they are recycling the same bits from last week.

One of the reporters on Boston Sports Media Watch summed up exactly where I am, too young for D&C's senseless rants and too old for the constant Frat guy humor. Some of their stuff is great, I mentioned last week how much I love when Crash goes off on his tirades, but they aren't going to beat D&C everyday... at least not yet.

Isn't this the key to the whole thing, though? I don't know if you were, but based on your posts here I'll assume that prior to hearing T&R, you were a WEEI guy in the mornings. Perhaps you held your nose whilst doing so, but kept it normally on that station. Now, you keep it on TSB until they go into a bit you don't like. Very, very few people stay locked into a single station, especially in a top 10 market like Boston (where there is a lot of variety). With the new PPM ratings system, this will not go unnoticed by either Entercom management or their advertisers.

Well you're saying a bunch of stuff I already know.

I was just wondering if moving over to EEI was worth it...apparently not.

No, it wasn't. If you are a big T&R fan and really like their stuff there was absolutely no reason for you to change the station. For a "tweener" like me there was.

Haunted, it depends on what I was listening to the last time I was in my car, which is the only reason that it makes sense to me that EEI now carries all the Sox games. If I am in my car in the evening for some reason, I am listening to the game and D&C will get a quick shot when I get in in the morning (like today). There have been a number of times when I switched the radio back on and heard Stearn or someone else and immediately went to T&R and never looked back.

The "Ask a pink hat" segment is much funnier than I ever thought it would be. The way they rip on the people answering the questions is really funny.

I was crying I was laughing so hard. That was awesome.

They also did a great job interviewing the Omar guy (reporter from Miami) but the guy was a friggin idiot.

They really held back on that guy. You could just tell that they wanted to kill him when he said "Boston Patriots" about three times.

Boston Patriots, I almost lost my shit. I could almost understand if they were talking to a baseball, basketball or even hockey reporter. They wouldn't mean to mix it up but it'd be an understandable mistake because of the Sox, Celtics and Bruins. But for a supposed football writer? Inexcusable.

Then his "logic" around Wilfork, "He isn't going to play hard because he doesn't have a contract". Are you kidding me?

Add in how great Miami was going to be this year with Chad Pennington and the Wildcat and then say they might go 9-7??? Huh.

It was embarrassing how bad he was.

What time is Pink Hat trivia usually on?

It varies, but they usually highlight it on the podcast, so you can check it out on the site.

This might not mean anything, but Rich just posted this up on Facebook:
About to start pre-gaming for the T&R boat cruise. Lot of reasons to drink tonight. Good reasons. Ratings reasons.

Funny segment this morning with Ask a pink hat Drew Barrymore edition. Wow, she's really clueless. Also there was a great moment when Jimmy Fallon's name came up through discussions of Fever Pitch and they said "Jimmy Fallon sucks, I don't care, I already got my money. Jimmy Fallon just sucks". This is especially funny because for the 3 months before moving to 98.5, they were forced to do on air reads for Jimmy Fallon's late show and they had to constantly refer to how great the show was when you could really tell that they hated it.

What's interesting is that T & C are actually talking quite a bit of sports. I think they are settling into the "Guy Sports Format" and I kind of like it. They don't take themselves too seriously and that to me is what makes it work. While there is not a whole lot of depth it is fun and you get the information with an interview or two thrown in.

It is what it is and I like it for the morning drive. I don't need a whole lot of angst and analysis in the morning. Light is good.

Can anyone explain to me who/what the "Faster Guy" is, and what the fascination with him is? I heard them reference him quite a bit, but I didn't hear how he was introduced and have only managed to catch some brief soundbites and references.

What I gather is that he's a drunken Sox fan, possibly a hobo. Why is he called "the faster guy"? I feel like it should be funny, but right now it just seems like an inside joke that I'm not a part of.

Thanks in advance.

You are correct, he's one of the drunken recap fans who basically answered all the questions as to the Red Sox (who was good, what would they need to be successful) as depending upon who was fast or faster. They then did a follow up interview with him which was priceless referring to Youks as Yookles and singing his favorite song "Evacuate the Dancefloor".

Like Stapleton, I've been pretty impressed by how much better they have gotten at discussing sports and while I hate to say it, bringing in Wallach was a brilliant move. He really fits in well with the group and brings a different voice and level of experience to the show.

I also love how much more confident he has become and has no problem taking on Fred.

Another thing that is great is that none of these guys, except for Wallach, are Patriots/Red Sox fans. Fred is a Jets guy, Crash is a Dolphins fan and I think Rich is a Falcons fan. It's nice to get a different perspective instead of constant Brady and BB ball washing.

Wallach has been awesome. It's great how T&R/Crash bust his balls, but also give him a long leash and let him say what he wants to say.

It certainly helps that Wallach has more sports knowledge in his foreskin than D&C have in their entire studio.

This is more of a question for the people who listened to T&R when they were on WBCN since there is more material for comparison, but does anyone else think that this show may be headed for a sort of "divorce" when their contract is up next year? As everyone here has pointed out, Fred has seamlessly made the transition to the focus on sports talk, and Wallach has proven to fit in well debating with Fred. On the other hand, Rich and Crash have been completely marginalized by the switch, especially Crash. Entertainment is now once a show, usually right at the end, Rich's bits are often postponed or pushed around, and it just seems that from week to week you hear their voices less and less. I don't really see how Rich and Crash will be that anxious to re-up for another few years a year from now if the show continues in its current Fred and Wallach dominated ways.

A caller even made note today of missing Crash and Rich and they joked about how they were keeping themselves busy playing blackjack. Not something to worry about at this moment but I think that its something that is going to be an issue in the future.

I've had the same sense. While I do like the show now, quite a bit really, I preferred hearing so much more or Rich and Crash. Also, I simply liked it better when it wasn't a "sports-centric" show.

The comfort level that Fred, Rich and Crash had with each other was obvious and it seemed like they genuinely enjoyed working together. Obviously a major format switch and the addition of another personality will throw that around for awhile, but I don't get the sense that Crash feels comfortable anymore, and Rich too, to a lesser extent.

I get that feeling too - though I wonder if Fred would ever work without Rich, who seems like he's irreplaceable behind the scenes, putting bits together, getting audio, and showing up at all hours to get stuff done. Crash... all I can say is that I hope they find room for him. As Haunted says, I too liked it a bit better when they didn't feel compelled to talk about sports every time they weren't doing taped bits or interviews. Maybe if the show evolves into a format that balances Wallach-dominated sports talk with other "guy stuffff" (cue southern effeminate accent), Crash can come back into the fold a bit more. It was never my favorite bit, but they could always throw an Ask Crash into the mix every couple weeks.

The video dating segment they had this morning at 8:50am almost made me drive off the road on the Pike. "Aquaman" and their comments about him followed up by the "leather" guy had me in tears.

The interview with their friend who does an afternoon drive show in Atlanta was pretty good too. It was half personal stuff joking around and half about the Pats/Falcons game this weekend. I wouldnt say this guy was an insider, but it was nice to hear a take from someone in the Atlanta market.

I gave Toucher & Rich a solid week when The Hub started but I've gone back to D&C. Yeah, the Obama bashing gets old but they've lightened up considerably IMHO. The monk-e-mails and drunk interviews were cute for a few days but I eventually turned back to a show from which I can actually learn something.

I was walking to work while listening to this, and it was absolutely hilarious. Those were the best attempts those two guys could make at lying, because it couldn't be more obvious how untrue those stories were. The fact that he told them to their face at the end that it never happened was great.

I had to walk into my office just as he started telling them that it never happened, how did it end? Did it go much further than the guy offering some kind of proof with made up details?

Will it be available later today?

Today around 720 they had a quick interview with someone at the premiere. It was pretty funny, they were ragging on him for wearing sunglass at 930 at night. His response? "It's because I'm a badass"

I agree, absolutely fantastic.

I also liked the segment they had in the 8 o'clock hour with the sports radio hosts in Atlanta.

Definitely blew EEI away today...the minute I heard Dickerson and Stearns I turned the dial and didn't look back.

Kind of stunning that Wolfe and Kahn would give Dennis and Callahan the green light to take off the Friday before the final Red Sox/Yankees series of the regular season, and a big Patriots game with the Falcons.

Late edit: Dennis had surgery this morning, and Callahan may be making an appearance on "The Big Show..." so I guess there was a reason for Dickerson/Stearns.

Well, not so fast. Scalabrine said he wanted to go out and do the recaps while talking to Crash. In studio, Fred, Rich, and Crash all said that it would be awesome to send him out with Adolpho.

I think the Celtics, or even his agent might want to prevent this from actually happening. If Scal wants to be paid to do it, then I could see CBS from signing off too.

I have really started to grow on these guys the last week or so, some hilarious material. Great interview this morning with Shawn Thornton. I think the only time I may try WEEI is after some of the more serious events (sox playoff games, etc) where I am looking for a little more in depth talk. Other than that though, I see no reason to listen to D&C most mornings.
