I was hoping this was about James White. Instead it’s going back to Deflategate paranoia.
It’s not too late...

Remember how everyone thought White would be cut because of his low usage for two whole years...

...and then it just turned out that that was how hard it was to learn his position, and then he kicked ass?

That was awesome.

That was awesome. It's a shame we aren't playing the Vikings in two weeks, because then we could make a joke about how James White could kick James White's ass, if he was still playing today.

Game recognizes game

COLIN COWHERD:
If you hate the Patriots, you don't like success. That's just envy. They have the best coach and the best quarterback. You loved Michael Jordan, because he was the best player. Like you envy success. You use Amazon. You watch Netflix. You use Starbucks and Uber. Now I understand if you're a Jacksonville fan. But these people that hate New England, what you're saying is I hate the best coach, best schematically driven, best choreographed football. Like once your team's not in it, how the hell can you not like watching that? Envy tells you everything.

I mean, like this morning. Oh it's rigged. Oh my wife. Oh the White House. Oh the president. How you react to success tells me if you'll ever be successful. Guy whining about the Warriors. Guy whining about LeBron. Guy whining about UConn women's basketball. Guy whining about Alabama. Guy whining about New England. You just don't-- you're jealous of success. I understand if they beat your team. Like Georgia fan hates Bama today. I get that. But 99% of you aren't competing against Amazon, Netflix, Uber. Like why wouldn't you like the smartest, most fundamentally brilliant team.

They don't fumble. Very rarely penalized. Unbelievable late. They don't have the best talent. They have the best red zone defense in football. How the hell do you explain that? Coaching. How does a high school coach not want to sit down and watch that? How does a college grad assistant not want to watch that? How do you-- how can you be jealous of great? I understand when great beats your team for the next 48 hours, you're bitter. If you're a Steeler fan or a Jags fan. God, it's just better. It's just smarter than everybody else out there. How you react to ultimate success tells me in 20 years how successful you'll be.

Not sure if anyone still cares, but kudos to the Washington Post for describing Spygate accurately in an article about a similar (sort of) situation in English soccer.

I think they still got it wrong. 1) when did Belichick stonewall the NFL? 2) the comparison is to an instance where one team was observing another team practicing. Many fans think that is what the Patriots did due to the Herald article that was retracted but the reality is that the Patriots were filming a game. 3) no mention that Goodell sent out a memo to 'clarify' the rule which only confused the situation.

The "team practicing" reference was more to the antics of the British futbol coach than a reference anything Belichick was accused of. The stonewalling comment was clearly incorrect; that's just the collateral damage from Goodell and the league openly claiming that because Belichick did not bow down and apologize to Goodell in the proper manner, there must be more to the story.

As the article really wasn't intended to be a complete rehash of Spygate, I can see why the clarification memo and other key points were glossed over. But they at least got this part correct, which alone puts them in the top 1% of Spygate reports when it comes to accuracy:

On its face, videotaping opposing signals is not banned by the league, but it must be done from designated areas
