Make your bold, contrarian, or crazy draft predictions. No worries, no one will remember it after the draft is over, but if you're correct you'll have bragging rights for a year. For both Pats & other teams.

Here are mine, roughly in terms of bold/contrarian/crazy points:
    1. Jets trade their #1 + #3 this year and a #1 next year in moving up to pick up WR Sammy Watkins at pick #3
    2. Patriots trade Ridley for a 6th rounder. Picks up RB Jeremy Hill in round 2 (or trades Vereen for a 6th and picks up RB Bishop Sankey in round 3)
    3. Patriots do not pick up a TE until the very end of the draft, if at all
    4. Patriots double up on DL with first two rounds but neither will be named Hageman
    5. Patriots select a LB in first or 2nd round, ahead of OL, DL, or TE (here's looking at you, SN)
    6. Clowney is not the 1st overall selection
    7. Patriots do not select an OL until round 4, and his name is Brandon Thomas
    8. Patriots do not select a player from Rutgers nor Alabama

#5 wouldn't make me happy, but #2 would make me think BB is losing it. Why dump a useful player for a late-round pick instead of just cutting Brandon Bolden?

    #8 is likely. 3, 4, and 7 wouldn't surprise me.

    Awesome topic:
    • Manziel slips to the 20s
    • Texans draft Clowney, imagine him and Watt
    • Patriots select a QB in the 1st-3rd round
    • One of Jacksonville, Cleveland or Oakland move back to the teen range to draft a QB
    • Seattle moves up into the early 20s
    • Cowboys move up
    • Titans take Bridgewater

This is more of a placeholder as I hope to add more, but for now:

    McCarron drafted before Bridgewater.
Ten years from now "The Bridgewater Four" debuts on ESPN.

Forgot one, because Bill is always unpredictable: SuperNomario's head explodes when the Patriots dont select a RB or a DE in the draft

In the spirit of this thread, in no particular order:
    1. The first offensive player the Pats draft is a tackle
    2. The Pats double-dip at DL ... but not in either of the first two rounds
    3. The Pats draft at least one player in the first three rounds that doesn't fit with anything they've done before - a first-round WR, an undersized DT, someone with a bad 3-cone time, a hulking OG, etc.
    4. The Pats draft a corner in the 3rd or 4th round and that player is 5'10" or 5'11"
    5. The Pats don't draft a linebacker at all (ha!) - or a tight end
    6. The Pats draft Logan Thomas
    7. The three top QB prospects (Bridgewater, Manziel, Bortles) all end up going in the top 10 after all

Cowboys move heaven and earth to get Manziel, and whether successful or not, Jurrah wonders what the fuss is all about because Romo is still his guy and you can't have too many good QBs.

SN, as for 3 they have been linked heavily to Dominique Easley. He's definitely an undersized dt.

The first offensive player Pats draft is either a Center or Jarvis Landry
The first defensive player Pats draft is an inside Linebacker (i.e. keep Mayo outside)
The first defensive back drafted by the Patriots is Christian Jones with pick 93
Pats draft QB from west of the Mississippi in the first 6 rounds, they try and fail to trade up to get Derek Carr
    Pats draft a punter
    Pats trade a 2015 pick for a 2014 pick
TAMU goes B2B2B in the first 5 picks
Mosley and Clinton Dix go B2B somewhere between 15 and 20
Bridgewater falls out of the top 20, Bortles (and Manziel) both go ahead of him.
Kelvin Benjamin is the 3rd WR taken
Steelers draft Tre Mason with pick 46
    Connor Shaw is Mr. Irrelevant

Colt Lyerla drafted by somebody no later than Round 5
Pats draft two TE's, but none of the top 4 (Ebron, ASJ, Amaro, Niklas)
SEC QBs Metteberger, McCarron, Murray all gone by Round 3
Despite the late-breaking hype, Garropolo and Savage are available in Round 5
Carraun Reid also a third rounder
Pats will draft a total of 7 players, including two in the seventh round
Pats draft no RBs before 6th round, possibly none at all
Wisconsin QB and generational talent Bo Buchanan drops to #6 (I hope I'm the only one who saw that God-awful movie. It was for work, honest!)

Pats trade out of the first round, for a team targeting a slipping QB, and DO get a first in 15 or 16
Pats first pick will be a "didn't see that coming" selection for a position seemingly of not great need, then they go linemen on both sides the rest of he way
except that ... Pats wind up with Georgia QB Aaron Murray
Dallas pulls a Ditka trade for Manziel
National media will proclaim the Rams the team that won the draft

If we want to really go silver hat...

    1. Patriots trade this year's 1st for Brandon Marshall.
    2. Aaron Donald goes in the top 5.
    3. Johnny Manziel drops out of the 1st round and the Texans pick him at 33.
    4. Jets trade back into the 1st round and draft AJ McCarron.
    5. Jace Amaro drops all the way to the Pats' own 2nd rd pick and they get him.
    6. Falcons trade up for Sammy Watkins and trade away Roddy White.

The Patriots draft front seven personnel with the goal to transition back to a 3-4 front (Attaochu, Tuitt, etc).
While celebrating his draft selection, Dominique Easley blows at least one ACL.
The Houston Texans draft David Carr's little brother; Kiper giggles like a school girl.
The Patriots draft two wide receivers.
The Jets psyche themselves out again and draft Eric Ebron.

Damn, Red beat me to it. Happened in one of the On the Clock Mocks I did at Fanspeak. Still,

    1. Johnny Football drops out of the first
    2. Someone drafts a RB in the first
    3. Jeremy Deering ends up a Patriot at some point
    4. Pats draft more offensive than defensive players
    5. Pats trade back twice
    6. Board binky Taliaferro does not go undrafted
    7. Lyerla does go undrafted
    8. The Eagles trade for LaMichael James on draft day
    9. The Giants draft a QB in the first 2 rounds
    10. This draft will have the most traded picks in the history of the draft

---With Bridgewater still available, Pats trade back into early second round, and team trading up takes a QB, but not Bridgewater, and then the Pats shock everyone and take Bridgewater as their Aaron Rogers.

---ESPN will not even have a headshot/graphic of the Pats 4th round draft pick.

Browns trade up to #2 to make sure they get Manziel.  Rams still get Robinson plus a 3rd.
Seahawks trade out of 1st round when Bridgewater falls and multiple teams give them offers, so they get something crazy like a 2014 #2 and a 2015 #1.
Kiper rips no fewer than 5 teams for strange picks that even people who know football scratch their heads about (most likely candidates: Raiders, Jets, Bills, Eagles, Lions)
49ers draft Aldon Smith's replacement in the 1st round despite picking up his option year.
Cardinals draft a RB in the first round.

    1. Someone trades into #1 or # 2
    2. Either Oakland or Tampa trade down for a bunch of picks
    3. 1 QB goes in the top 10
    4. Ndomokin Suh gets traded
    5. San Francisco is going to move up into the top 15 and they are going to trade into the 4th round. They don't have 13 roster spots that rookies can fill, they won't pick any more than 7 players in this draft.

    2. Pats draft 2 SEC players
    3. Pats draft 2 Pac 12 players
    4. BB and the pats move back 3 times
    5. One of those move backs is the 1st round pick
    6. A Maine player gets drafted by an NFL team
    7. A team misses a pick due to time expiring
    8. Manziel is the first QB drafted.
    9. Bridgewater is the 4th QB selected.
    10.  Andre Williams (BC) goes in the late second round.

Another move-heaven-and-earth get: Sammy Watkins > Jets.

Agree with Seoul. Jets have lots of currency in this draft, he could well be the best player in this draft, and it will grab the back pages for Woody.

Not only will the Texans not select Clowney as their #1 selection, they won't select Kalil Mack nor Manzel.

They will trade their #1 pick and be the Rams of 2012 draft.

You kicked off the thread by predicting Clowney won't go 1. Who is trading up and who are they getting with the first pick?

An RGIII sized haul for anyone other than Clowney at 1 would be an extraordinarily steep price to pay.

Four QBs taken in the first round, including two in the top ten (Manziel, Bortles).

The number of teams that need a QB, coupled with the notorious impatience of NFL owners, makes the conventional wisdom about free-falling QB prospects implausible.

    1. Texans either take Kahlil Mack #1 overall or trade the selection.
    2. Browns take Manziel at #4.
    3. Bridgewater falls, and a bunch of teams end up regretting that.
    4. Ravens trade down.
    5. 49ers trade up to draft a WR, probably O'Dell Beckham Jr.
    6. Chip Kelly does something awesome.
    7. Patriots trade out of the 1st round (again).

At what tipping point is a Sammy Watkins trade a bad move? (from a Jets perspective)

Watkins is truly great.....but how many picks does it take to make it a bad deal?

I would do that, but probably not much more.

From what I have read, the Jets have a dozen picks this draft, 8 of which can be traded. If trading partner wants sweeteners in late rounds, you're not likely to let that kill the deal. Additional high rounders in addition to above would be a different story.

The Falcons gave up 5 picks for Julio Jones (two 1sts, a 2nd and two 4ths).  I think anyone would start by asking the Jets for that.  Now that was probably an overpay for Julio Jones, but its the most recent comp for trading up to get a #1 WR.

The Cardinals or a non top 7 team draft (and by non top 7 I don't mean where they end up trading up to draft I mean their original draft spot) will draft TBW. TBW has a great pro career despite having an ugly girlfriend (No, I don't know if that is true).

Pats draft a WR with their 1st round pick. SMU's head explodes as his kids laugh around him.

Pending injury, Sammy Watkins is a HoF'er.

The Pats draft: 2 Dline, 2 Oline, 1 WR, 1 TE, 1 RB. You might scratch that 2 Oline or Dline for 1 DB.

My final prediction is that Jerry Jones is a bad gm and he needs to stop getting shitty plastic surgery. You're old, dude. Accept it.

SIKE! My final prediction is that I get extremely shitfaced on Friday playing an NFL draft drinking game.

    Throwing out another one:

Houston trades down with Atlanta or a team around there, getting less in return than many would imagine for the #1 pick.  Atlanta takes Clowney, Houston takes...Teddy Bridgewater, the guy Bill O'Brien has wanted all along despite a million smokescreens.
