I assume Xander and JBJ are still considered prospects for the purposes of this exercise? If so, then our prospect base is gonna take a pretty serious hit when they're both starting on Opening Day, right?

They should consider holding them back and hold out for the #1 spot next year.

Made more impressive by the fact that the top 10 draft pick last year isn't considered a top prospect in the Sox system, yet.

Neal Huntington got absolutely ripped apart by the baseball press his first few years in Pittsburgh. A lot of writers who are supposed to be knowledgeable about player development joined the firing squad. Pirates' ownership deserves credit for staying the course in those difficult early years.

This certainly bucks the general consensus of the Astros, Twins, and Cubs as having the three top systems.

I think of BA as perhaps the most reputable of the prospect sites, but I also think of Callis as the main guy over there. I wonder how much his departure has changed the system over there and BA's standing in general. It's also entirely possible that I'm vastly overstating the impact and esteem Callis had/has.
