The quiet eye

There is an interesting article on BBC Future that postulates that better athletes keep their eye on the ball longer and steadier just before and during their athletic movement...staying in the zone. It has been observed in basketball, volleyball, football [soccer], tennis, archery, and ice hockey.

While it hasn't been studied in baseball, to my knowledge, I think it could apply but whatever, it is an interesting article. Once upon a time, darts was a popular sport in bars in this country and I was a serious shooter and at times would find myself "in the zone," where basically I hit everything I shot at. I always attributed this to my study of Zen but now I'm beginning to think there is a relation between Zen and the quiet eye.
