That article actually wasn't that bad, and the comments (yes, I went there) weren't either. I haven't notice the Falcons being overly salty about this whole thing. IMO they get a lot of leeway with how they process the loss given the awesome/tragic comeback.

Devonta Freeman still has tears

It’s hard to move on from something like that," Freeman said, per SiriusXM.com. "I don’t think I’ll ever move on from something like that. To be honest, I think it’ll always play in the back of my head, just because I know, I feel like we’re going to get a Super Bowl this year. And I feel like this could have been two (Super Bowl wins in a row). I could have been close to Tom Brady, you know what I mean? It’ll always play in the back of my head and the back of my mind.

Ah so now he has two rings in his mind? He is just like Russell Wilson, with his dreams of six rings.

Hey Devonta, maybe you should have blocked Hightower

He is delusional and his tears are delicious.. He 'feels' that he is going to get a ring this year? I'm not guaranteeing it won't happen, but the list of teams that collapse after losing the Superbowl is long. I'd bet that half the players in the league feels this way in the off season.
Also, even if he won last year and wins this year, in what world is two Superbowl rings close to five? I checked Wikipedia for a quick look, they don't even bother with a list of players with 2 rings. The list under 3 is simply "Many players, coaches and staff". They add that 22 players won 2 rings with the Pats in the early 2000s alone.

The list of players with 4 rings is "at least 38".
The list of players with 5 is 2.
Of course Bill tops the list with 7 as a coach.

Well in this world Brady would "only" have 4, so Freeman would be 2 behind. Since 2017 is in the bag.

Well, in Freeman's world, his 1st ring takes away Brady's 5th. But still, 2<4

And you're overall point remains.....Freeman is delusional

He wouldn't have just won Super Bowl LI. He would have been MVP.

Let's show him some respect!

"I don't want to make this no competition thing with me and my quarterback. I'm just talking about from based off that [Super Bowl] game. Let's [say] it like this: if I would have kept getting the ball, if I would have stayed in the game, I don't know why I got out of the game actually. But if I would have stayed in the game, I would have got MVP. I'm looking at my stats and I see my numbers didn't lie. Look at my numbers."

Are these from the same interview or separate ones?

Because if its separate ones, it does not bode well for him going forward.

Got to get past it or it will consume you.

My bad. Looks like it's from the same interview. I just googled him and that was the headline posted 3 hours ago, so I thought it was new.

I don't think so. Ryan had the numbers to justify the "QB usually wins these things". Could have seen Julio Jones too with some of the amazing catches.

That wouldn't have mattered if they weren't taking 10-yard sacks while trying to pass, instead of grinding some clock and kicking the FG that would have iced the game.

Everyone here would be crying if our HC and QB effed up in such a winnable game... that also happened to be the Super Bowl.

Lifetime glory... in the exclusive Winners Club with Tony Brady. Flushed by the leadership of your team.

Matt Ryan had a perfect passer rating midway through the third quarter. Freeman wouldn't have sniffed the MVP.
Especially after the graphic they showed breaking down his targets by depth thrown where he had only thrown 2 incompletions, and then they announced with 13:45 left in the fourth quarter (28-9 at that point) that voting for the MVP was up online, followed immediately by a shot of Matt Ryan on the sideline. Aikman and Joe Buck left no doubt who their MVP was.

Well he did go to BC, so I don't see why he shouldn't already be properly motivated.

And look at me, I've just sufficiently depressed myself and made fun of my favorite BC athlete.

The Patriots hate on the ESPYs was palpable. From Peyton as host (although he was pretty funny) to Samuel L. Jackson praying the Pats weren't "Team Of The Year" (they weren't, the GSW won).
I don't care much about these awards shows, but how are the Cubs not team of the year? Wire to wire champs, >100 year drought.

Glad to hear the anti Pats talk, because that means that we're still in a lot of heads. But it's the Cubs with a gripe in this case.

Tough year. That Golden State Warriors team won 15 straight games in the playoffs.

Yes, but they added one of the top two players in the world to an already great team. Breaking a 108 year drought seems like a bigger accomplishment to me, and I'm indifferent about the Cubs but like the Warriors after the Celtics.

But the category isn't "best story", it's the "best team" award. Are the GSW not inarguably a historically better basketball team than the Cubs were a baseball team?

The award is best team, not best accomplishment by team. The Final Five was a better team than the Cubs, also.

If the award was the best accomplishment, they'd just award it to the "2nd half Patriots"

Also its the ESPYs so who fucking cares?
I saw Nate Solder last night at a small music show on a beach in RI (with Jenny Dell and her husband). My buddy went up to him and said "no ESPYs tonight?" and he said "Those were tonight? What are we up for?" so I think the athletes generally feel the same way.

Yeah, but the Patriots won 100% of their playoff games.
However, this is a popular vote and the Warriors are cool and the Pats are not and are hated.

You know what I'm not thinking about when watching my team in January in a playoff game? The ESPYs.

If you are going to be offended by the ESPYs it would be for Durant winning Best Championship Performance over Brady.

I know Right?
I turned to my buddy and said "Down 28-3, If we can comeback this might warrant an ESPY"
Everyone understands that we can talk about something but that doesn't mean we think it's the end of the world right?
