This is one mentally tough team, which is what BB wants.

I thought the Jets gave Pats all they could handle, and despite the 11 (I think) dropsies Brady & Company pulls it out once again.
  • Game ball goes to Brady once again. 34/54 for 355 yards and 2 TDs.
  • Co-game ball goes to the make-shift offensive line. Only 3 sacks and none when it mattered.
On a side note, Jets had a lot of guys go out today, including Ivory, Pryor, Skrine, and Mangold. Before today's game, Jets were one of the healthiest teams in the league. Things change quickly in this league.

New England's 5 carries by running backs are the fewest in franchise history

Why pretend to "run" the ball when the best match ups are in the passing game?

As quoted elsewhere, BB could not give less shit about the so-called "balance" playcalling.

Danny A all the way
Brady, not easy against that D, even with the drops made it look easy often.
Gronkowski asserting his dominance eventually
Hightower-- played angry

Down
Lafell--Way down.
Jules--1 huge drop 2 weeks in a row, have to wonder about that mangled finger affecting him a little bit.

Has anyone said Amendola. I think he was an under the radar guy in this one. If you DVRed it, watch him closely

yammer's favorite poster
amendola, brady, and the OL held up pretty well.

i thought hightower and nink were big on D.

we saw butler's limitations singled up on a big, physical guy like decker. how many other big, strong #2s like that do we have to fade this year? assuming DT will get doubled against DEN with butler on sanders.

lafell obviously had a horrible game, just grateful that we got it out of the way and got a W. when he gets right (and he will), this offense will be terrifying.

i'm curious to hear discussion on patricia's play calling / defensive game plan. i would have liked to see more zone pressures and different looks, but i guess loading up against ivory was part of the reason we didn't. ultimately did enough to win in a game where the O didn't do them many favors.

count me among the group that thinks the jets are for real, they have their flaws, but they will be competitive and well-coached all season and came in with a good game plan. that things broke their way in multiple phases and we still won ugly says a lot about this team.

Danny. The rest are fighting for second place.

Gostkowski gets honorable mention. Easy to take him for granted.

How do you not mention Amendola?

Interior DLine deserve some love.  Branch, Brown, Siliga, did a great job containing the NFL's #1 rush offense.  Kept HT and Collins clean to make all the tackles.

I've been trying not to mention all the obvious candidates as the first poster.

Also:

@FieldYates For the first time in his career, @Patriots QB Tom Brady finished as the team's leading rusher in a game. 4 rushes, 15 yards, 1 TD.

Amendola is a weird piece in this offense. Typically shows up in pick plays on PI calls. Had one of his best if not best game as a Patriot.

Here
Colts lose.

Edit - Errr....

Tom Brady
Danny Amendola
Hightower
Nink made some plays, but also looked really weak on others. They could really use Sheard back.

Brady: 355 yards, 2 TDs, 1 rushing TD, all with 11 drops thrown in. 16th win when attempting 50+ passes.
Amendola: Circus catch after circus catch
Gronk : Watching him drag guys down the field is pure joy

Probably between this one and his first game against the Bills a couple years back.

I won't post mine since it is exactly this.
I understand putting Butler on down but I just think he was put in a very difficult position. He was pretty much on an island against a good and big WR, I think he competed and at least made it a little difficult on him. I certainly wouldn't put him as an up but I'd leave him off of down as well.

Balls to Amen for actually catching the ball - Brady for staying clutch and not getting derailed by the pass "catchers" - Nink with some huge plays. Not enough balls to go to each member on both sides, but both lines played well.

Down: really, nobody is very close to LaFell. He went from PUP to U. Ugliest game this side of Reche Caldwell.

Edit - sorry, need to add Gronk to the guys getting balls, he was great

The gamethread was especially epic today. That was fun.

The D had a plan to stop the running game and they did this (helped Ivory got banged up). But that did allow Fitzy to make some plays and used their big receivers to their advantage. Butler got beat a few times sure, but Decker is no slouch.  I assume the safety helped shaded primarily to stopping Marshall and let Butler do what he could 1v1.

The O line had some down moments but overall performed very well against a very strong Jets Dline.

Hopefully Brandon is just rusty coming back and the drops will decrease going forward. Danny as nails though.

This answer on the 3rd and 17 play is exhibit A to prove all the press needs to do to get BB to talk is ask better questions.

Edit. "3rd and 17. Of course we were giving them on defense all day, left and right. So some days 3rd and 17, easier to pick up than 3rd and 1."

I want someone to ask BB during a press conference about Brady's outfits sometime. Just funny BB is in a dri-fit hoody and then Brady struts out GQ in some plaid coat with a popped collar.
