What a fucking gutsy, gutsy game.

AGAIN.

My game ball goes to Sheard, who made a difference and finally seems healthy. Secondary ball goes to Mayo, who played better than he has all year.

This team has mental toughness in spades.

Butler and Hightower played well, Logan Ryan was everywhere. McCourty looked good on some deep balls.

In the who cares department:

@MikeLowePPH The #Patriots did not score in the fourth quarter, ending their NFL record at 38 consecutive scoring quarters.

One of the things I noticed from Butler is that on one play he had his hand set to block Watkins' view--just a total eye screen--it's the little things.

On that 2 seconds:

@MikeGarafolo
Getting forced out while going backward: Clock runs. Going backward while not getting forced out: Clock stops.

Not that it really makes a difference, but the clock should have stopped on that last play. He went out untouched.

UP: sheard, hightower, mayo, amen$, butler, ryan. really very little to complain about on D aside from freeney having some ugly moments vs. shady.

DOWN: pretty much the whole OL but especially cannon. have to hope they can figure it out in time for the broncos. with two games in hand in the conference, i just want brady and gronk to stay healthy.

lafell also seemed to disappear for most of the night. would be curious to see a breakdown there... it seems like the combination of zone coverage & lots of pressure had brady looking inside a lot.

This distinction more or less epitomizes everything that is wrong with the NFL rulebook. Why even bother differentiating different forms of going out of bounds?

Brady seems happier than in weeks during press conference. Maybe because GB didn't make him wear another ridiculous $20k coat.

White and amendola

Hm: cardona, Malcom brown and Easley, sheard and Nink, Hightower, Brady's 1st half patience, Patricia, line judge +123 killing last 2 seconds

Goat: anyone associated with blocking between the hashes, air josh, whistle ref

I don't believe I've seen a worse officiating job since the Baltimore game with the replacement referees. It takes some real talent to screw over both teams on the same play, never mind the shitshow of an ending.

Game balls to Dola, McCourty, Butler, Mayo, and Sheard. Harper and Dobson had some great catches, even if at least one got called back.

On the down side, Chung was getting torched like the good old days and Gronkowski had a pretty rotten day by his lofty standards.

An ugly game, a gritty performance by the defense, and a forgettable night for just about everyone on the offense.

UP:

- Sheard: Seemed to get good push on a number of plays and was often disruptive.

- Butler: Second week in a row of general dominance.

- Ryan: He made a lot of really nice plays on a night where the defense had no margin for error. Good on him.

DOWN

- Cannon

- Andrews

- Flemming

- injuries. As always.

Edit: BB on now. "Always good to get a win against Buffalo. ... That wasn't our best, need to coach better play better ... We scored more points than them, so we'll take it and move on to Buffalo."

On the whistle: "they explained it on the field... What else is there to do?"

On getting down to 2 healthy WRs: "Tonight we had to work through it. ... Josh did a good job... It wasn't necessarily where we wanted to be but it was good enough."

While this is true they had him playing the 3rd CB which he is singularly ill suited for it just seems they don't trust any of the other CBs other than Butler and Ryan(not that they should).
So while he got torched it isn't really his fault, if he had those skills he'd be a CB instead of a S.

I wanna add respect for Blount. Yeah, 16/56 isn't a great line, but he did some tough work and didn't turn the ball over.

The coaching staff. They may not always make the optimal call. But this team just refuses ever to dwell on the last play, or a bad call, or anything they cannot control. They just have it drilled into them that you play the ball as it lies. The situation is the situation, and you have 40 seconds or less to figure out what the hell to make of it. Even a second thinking about something you can't control is a second too long.
