That sucks. Fuck Harry and the same old shitty retread clubs in the PL. Would have been nice for some new blood.

Over the moon with this result. As we approached the end of regulation it started to feel that the pressure was beginning to shift toward Derby. Can't believe it ended like that. Nearly punched a hole in my ceiling.

Halftime of the League 1 playoff and Orient is up 2-0 - both pretty goals. Match in on beIN sports play.

So, I admit my sole exposure to Barry Hearn comes from Men In Blazers, who treat him like a hero.  Or maybe they are making fun of him.  I'm not sure.

But whenever he's on their show he comes off to me as completely and irredeemably repulsive.  Is there something lost in translation here?

This just occurred to me: QPR's the third club Rob Green has keeper'd into a promotion to the Premier League. Norwich City, West Ham (although he left the club after they won their playoff as he was out of contract) and now QPR. Strange career path.

I listen to Robert Elms's radio show about life in London pretty often. He'll often ask guests who their favorite Londoner of all time is, and as often as not they'll say the Artful Dodger. Barry Hearn is pretty much the modern equivalent. I don't think every Englishman loves the Artful Dodger, but I think his trickster nature appeals to something in the English psyche--maybe the supposedly cheery, unfettered personality of the working class as opposed to the stodgy middle class and gentry.
