The best part about sports is what it does to people. It brings joy, even if at times it's just for a moment. It brings hope. It gives you something to cheer for, something to be invested in, something to truly care about. But, best of all, it brings people together. Reading through everyone testimonials today, thinking and talking about all of the undervalued, underappreciated players that came through this year has made this championship the sweetest one for me. As I, like many of you, could barely do anything these last few weeks besides being excited for the game to start, would read post after post made on SOSH. Some posters talked about their fathers, what the game has meant to them, how it meant to their relationships. Others, talked about their children, how they are in the world, and would never know what it's like to not be a World Champion. People talking about the games they have attended this year, years before, or just the ups and downs of following our beloved Redsox on a daily basis. And everything in between. It's crazy, people who have never met can become family. I have never started a thread, and rarely post, but I wanted to express my sincerest gratitude to everyone here at Sons of Sam Horn. I don't think I have missed a post in the 11 years I have been a member here, and this truly is the best part about baseball for me, seeing what everyone thinks, feels, and what we hope for the future. Thank you all, so much. Let's do it all again next year.
I was thinking we could use this thread as a sort of "Why does this mean so much to you" thread. For me, getting older and suffering with health, my dad thought he might never see a World Series Championship. Here we are, 15 years later, and we have FOUR of them. And he's doing great. Or is it as simple as picking up a true underdog like Steve Pearce as seeing what he's done for us, seeing the redemption story of David Price or Joe Kelly, etc etc!
