I was really hoping that tweet was wrong. Damn.

I had an irrational love for him his first few years in New England. This sucks.

My fondest pre-Brady/Belichick Patriots memory is going to Bryant with my uncle for training camp, rocking #88. We saw Terry pull up on a golf cart basically across an entire field (or at least it seemed at the time), broke into a full sprint and outran everyone else to get there first and have him sign the jersey.

First time I had enough awareness of college ball to be specifically excited about a draft pick, then he absolutely killed it as a rookie and I remember feeling so smart.

Damn. Caught Tom Brady's first touchdown pass.

In spite of him being a Tree Nut alumnus, still a disappointment to me he didn't get selected for the '97 Pro Bowl for his '96 season. The rookie got no love. He was right there with the 4 selectees: Tim Brown, Tony Martin, Keenan McCardell, and Carl Pickens.

Damn. He was the player that first gave me hope of patriots winning a title.

Life is too short.

I thought he just faded away after Belichick dumped him, but he actually closed his career with a pair of 1,000 yard seasons with Bledsoe and Parcells in Dallas. RIP.

With everything he went through in his life, its a surprise a car accident is what took him. Shame for him to fight through so much bullshit to have that happen to him.

Damn, this bums me out.

That sucks.

I know he had his issues on and off the field, but man, he was so smoooooooth out there when he played.

As an OSU fan/alum and obviously Patriots fan, this one really hurts. I hated the way it ended with him in NE. RIP Terry.

For those non-OSU fans, here's something fun to remember him with. In the run heavy BIG10 at the time, this was even more impressive:

My lasting memory of him was catching a long bomb on the first play from scrimmage in the foggy playoff game against Pittsburgh in 1996. I was there that day in the lower part of the stands and could barely see anything except him running under the ball. Got the team rolling to a big win.

Caught Brady's first touchdown:

Edit: Just saw that Jed mentioned this first.
You can see in the upper left that it says about a year ago, making that Brady to Glenn TD pass a little over 16 years ago.

I watched that “fog bowl” game too. It was one of the first Pats games where you said “what, we’re actually going to win this (big) game?” First of many.

On a more serious note, this sucks. Guy had some serious demons and it was awesome when he came back out of nowhere to have some solid seasons with Dallas/Parcells/Bledsoe, because it seemed like he had made real strides in life. Seemed like he had come a long way. Gone too soon.

Sorry, but now I have this ear worm.

RIP. Huge part of the regime change. I remember thinking that the AFC Championship hat was the coolest thing!

Ugh. Sucks.

First time I saw him was my sophomore year in Madison when OSU came into Camp Randall. That OSU team always feels like it should've accomplished more. Loved, loved, LOVED the pick when the Patriots grabbed him. I remember watching the Super Bowl alone with the phone unplugged the following year. Glenn's long catch in the first half was one of the moments (Byars catch-and-run being the other) where I was like "we've got a chance here."

Man, this sucks.

I'm finding it really hard to find Terry Glenn Patriots highlights on youtube, but this compilation video does a pretty good job of it:

I had the pleasure of meeting him back in the late 90s and the thing I remember best is what a nice guy he was. Such a shame, rest in peace brother!

I irrationally loved that team, especially Brisby for some reason. It's weird, it doesn't seem like that long ago, but it also seems a lifetime ago. Watching that video brought back memories of what it was like to actually watch a game that you weren't expecting to win.

Fucking eh. Terry Glenn was part of the NE turnaround along with Bledsoe and Parcells. His rookie season was magical.

R.I.P. Life is short, fellow BBtL members and lurkers.

Bledsoe to Glenn in the fog - that was the dynamic moment that to me has always felt like the start to this roller coaster ride. RIP.
Absolutely--still one of my favorite Pats--and Terry Glenn--memories.
I will always be impressed by how he survived a really rough childhood, helped to take care of his siblings, and resurrected his career with Parcells in Dallas.

Born in 1985 - first college football memories are around when he was great for Ohio State. My first Christmas I got football gear the two jerseys were Glenn and Bledsoe. As a 10-13 year old I thought he had a good shot at Canton. Sad day.
