What a treat for those Providence North Carolina kids (and the students too) to be able to tell their grand kids they got a chance to play North Carolina Fred Hoiberg's Iowa State Cyclones in the tournament. One of the underrated things about this tournament are those sorts of childhood dreams coming true.

Down 10 at the half. UCLA is so good offensively it's going to be an uphill climb to close the gap, they have size at every position and are all really good shooters.

It's no fun seeing these smaller schools let down against bigger, faster, more talented teams after such great early-round performances.

But I would eagerly pay to watch Mercer & Stephen F. Austin play a 7-game series.

Baylor up 16-7 over Creighton. Blue Jays can't hit or rebound for shit so far. 13:25 left in the 1st.

EDIT - Make it 19-7. Bears are 5 for 5 on threes.

I have a feeling Tennessee isn't exactly going to be the abused stepsister of Michigan, Louisville & Kentucky in Indy.

Baylor up 26-9 now with 8:24 left. McDermott is 0 for 2 from the field (both threes) and 1 of 2 on free throws.

Just 3 total rebounds for the Blue Jays.

I don't think a delay in starting the clock should be a valid use of replay. Players rely on what's on the clock. Imagine that a team scores with 15 seconds left. Opponent inbounds, dribbles the clock down, and shoots with .1 seconds left and scores to win. They review the shot and in doing so they see there was a half second operator delay in starting the clock on the inbounds. Do you wipe out the basket? I don't see how today was different except the UNC kid was dumber.

Watching the way Creighton and Stephen Austin are getting called for fouls, I'm just kind of wondering how teams are supposed to play defense anymore?  Literally, any contact that they make is being called.  It wouldn't be so bad if it was being called both ways, but Baylor is literally steamrolling Creighton all over the court and getting called for nothing.  Creighton got hit with 4 fouls in under 3 seconds (3 of which came on the inbounds pass following the original foul), and Baylor isn't getting called for anything.  It's the same way with UCLA and Stephen F. Austin. These teams are already dealing with a huge size mismatch, but to add the refs into the mix, they have no chance.

Hey look, another offensive foul on Creighton.  That's 3 on Gibbs, whom was only in for offense in the last minute to avoid getting a third foul.  Unbelievable.

I'm not surprised at all that Baylor's beating Creighton. But a 63-35 score with 10:00 still to play is just completely off the charts of reason.

Gibbs has been a hack machine for 4 years, it's about time.

Is the game entertaining enough to be worth watching for 6 minutes until AZ-Zags tip off?

I now see what you're talking about. The baylor guy with the glasses initiated the contact, plus gave a minor elbow, but it was mcDermott who didn;t do anything who got whistled.

Zona up 13-6. Gonzaga's Kevin Pangos just sprained his left ankle in a really ugly way, with a full 90-degree roll while driving hard upcourt with the ball.

Is this really how it's going to go? The first three games of the day are all instant classics, while the next 5 are miserable blow-outs? Please, gods of basketball, make this one somewhat competitive.

I still can't believe how CBS/NCAA figured a 940 tip off (that started later) was a good idea.

Goodnight!

What's amazing is that not a single soul in the media gave them even a speck of national press until after they beat Syracuse.

We still got dogged a little after we hit the number one seed. But that's expected.

Yup, especially after the loss to Maryland. The "fluke" catcalls were everywhere.

Tonight's game might get the Hoos a bit more respect headed into Mich St game, but still will have a lot of folks picking State. I kind of prefer the quasi-underdog status, actually.

Yeah, that Maryland game was the one game I was worried about. MD at home is tough especially the last game they play in the ACC reg season.  The Jay Bilas and Jay Williams of the world kept pushing that "unbalanced schedule" b.s like we had the ACC handed to us. Very humble team and fans here.  Very proud, it's been a long time coming.
