Breel Embolo is set to join Schalke. Reports are everywhere, transfer sums very hugely (between 20 and 30mil.€).

One in, one out? Such a big transfer sum going out could mean that Schalke expects youngster Leroy Sané to leave this summer.

So this is a combination of transfer rumor and HOLY SHIT THE PREMIER LEAGUE MONEY IS RIDICULOUS.
West Ham have had a series of bids for Alexandre Lacazette rejected by Lyon, so according to L'Equipe they made a new one today....
40 MILLION POUNDS
52 MILLION EURO

Edit well in a couple hours it might be 60M pounds 52M Euros.

Knowing very little about him, why not?
I may just be jaded by Mané being another expensive Premier League player.

He's run hot and cold the past couple seasons, he isn't an out-and-out striker, etc. On the flip side, a collection of Coutinho/Firmino/Mané interchanging behind one of Sturridge/Origi could be pretty dangerous.

I'd rather have Götze but that's not too realistic without European football this year

Mkhitaryan to Manchester United seems all but done. German media sources say the fee is around 40m euros, English sources a bit less. Good signing for United and a player that I hoped would come to Arsenal. You really don't know what you're going to get with Mkhitaryan. His three years at BvB have been respectively decent, horrific, and fantastic. But in today's market, 40m euro for a player who was one of the best players in the Bundesliga last year is a good deal.

One of the interesting subplots here is that United seems to be pursuing a conscious strategy of cozying up to Mino Raiola, a particularly loathsome agent. Raiola is the agent of Ibra (who United seems almost certain to sign), Mkhi (ditto), and, the biggest prize, Pogba (who United may end up struggling with Real Madrid over). Those are three of his biggest clients among current players and United has been in for all of them.

Damn, you got Willian'd. At least you didn't have him in for a medical.

The new rumor relative to Arsenal is Lewandowski to Madrid and Benzema to Arsenal. Hey, at least they made it to the end of June this year to push this rumor. To me, I see Lewandowski rumors as nothing more than a ploy to get an improved contract. Bayern has improved the contracts of several players and Lewo should be amongst the highest players at that club. His agent is just doing his due diligence by shopping him around. If Madrid could get Lewo, I'm sure they'd pay the astronomical fee to make it happen, but I don't think that Lewo has incentive to move, unless an improved contract comes along. In the unlikely event that that does happen, I imagine Arsenal won't be alone in its pursuit of Benzema. I imagine Jose will want him at United. I imagine Juventus would want him. I imagine PSG would want him. That's some big money out there that Arsenal can't compete with. Beyond its failure to materialize in the past, there's a lot that would have to happen in Arsenal's favor for Arsenal to even have a shot.

Hulk is officially off to Shanghai.

Such a shame. He was the one Brazillian that I felt would have done well in the Premier League.

Juve has done some pretty good business with free transfers: Pirlo, Tevez, Evra, Khedira, Alves, and of course Pogba.

As if it wasn't completely obviously once he switched sponsorships from Nike to Adidas, Zlatan has officially announced that he joining Manchester United.

He's 35 years old and played in a shit league but I can't help but be giddy over Zlatan Ibrahimovic playing for Manchester United.

Nolito to Man City for 18 million Euros. A pretty penny for a guy who will be 30 in October. At Barca, Guardiola had asked Nolito to stay after his contract expired in 2011; but Nolito wasn't too keen on playing for Barca B again - so he left. There were heavy rumors that he was going back to Barca this past year, but City and Pep convinced him that the glow of British pounds shines brighter than Spanish sunshine.

Good player. He prefers to play wide left and cut in to create scoring opportunities with his right foot.

Does that make Pulisic a likely first-team starter next season at Dortmund?
It certainly opens up playing time for other players including Pulisic, although it's possible that Dortmund will turn around and make another purchase.

Right now they have Aubameyang up top and Reus and Kagawa filling two of the three attacking midfield positions. That's fairly settled. The rest:

- Pulisic - option at all three attacking midfield positions (remember that he played centrally for almost all of his youth career)
- Adrian Ramos - Auba's backup, but he's been deployed on the wing
- Gonzalo Castro - A Swiss army knife depth player in Dortmund's midfield who has been used on the wing, but he's more of a deeper-lying central midfielder
- Ousmane Dembélé - young winger purchased from Rennes for €15m. 12 goals in Ligue 1 as an 18 year old last year.
- Emre Mor - young winger purchased from Nordsjælland for €1m.
- Felix Passlack - young academy winger, though it's an open question as to whether his future is as a winger or as a fullback

I could well be wrong, but Dembélé may be the biggest threat to Pulisic's playing time. However, Dortmund's busy schedule and Reus' frequent injuries mean that there will be plenty of PT to go around, even if they pick up another veteran later this summer.

If that Mor is the same Turkish kid we just saw in the Euros, he'll be getting burn for sure. Kid can ball.

Miki official. Haven't seen much but his stats from the Bundesliga makes this seem like a tremendous signing.
I'm over the moon at this signing. I try to catch Dortmund games whenever possible due to their entertaining style of play and Mkhitaryan is such a dynamic attacking player. He has the speed, physicality, skill and work rate to be absolutely lethal on the counter or open play.

Through my homer-tinted glasses, I would say he's comparable to Alexis Sanchez (not as talented at set pieces but better defensively)

Yes, same player. 18 months before Nordsjælland sold him to Dortmund, he was released by Lyngby. D'oh.

Vermaelen to Roma for 10M euros seems just about done. Vermy didn't play much at all for Barca, but at least now he can tell Belgian jokes with Radja.

10M?! That's a good piece of business for Barcelona: the guy played 20 games the last two years, and he's 30!

Gokhan Tore from Besiktas to West Ham. Appears to be a loan w/ option to buy. West Ham haven't announced, but Besiktas did and he was in London yesterday.
Also reportedly basically done but not official until Monday or Tuesday is Carlos Bacca from Milan to West Ham.

Any sense why Bacca is looking to leave Milan? He had a decent year there, scoring 20 goals in 42 matches.

I'd guess because Milan isn't even in Europe and is about to be sold. West Ham gets him at least in Europa league, moves him to a better league and likely gets him a higher salary.

I know it´s 3 years in the past, but I wonder why you buy a crazy shithead like Gökhan Töre.

There´s an interview (it´s german, for those of you who understand it) with Hakan Calhanoglu about that situation(starting at 12:00). It is just insane to listen him speak about it, being in a hotel room with your teammate(Toprak), a friend of his and his girlfriend at the national team and then comes another teammate(Töre) who sees red because of the girl and knocks on the hotel room´s door multiple times, goes to the reception and gets the rooms´entry card, says he´s the room service, enters the room with another friend with a gun and so on.

Is there any example of how much the financial landscape has changed than seeing a move from Milan to West Ham as an career improvement? I started watching in 1994 and Milan were the super team. They pile drove a star studded Barca in the CL final. That was right before the core of their defense lead Italy to the World Cup final. When I see them on TV, I still default to thinking its a power on the screen, but the results scream otherwise.

God, I hope he signs on for England. That would be even better than Miguel Herrera.
Rumor has it that Messi pre-approved Bielsa, Pochettino, and Simeone in order to bring him back into the fold. Would not be surprised if Bielsa is named Argentina Manager if AFA ever decides to get their act together.

In other news, Pelle is leaving Southampton for the fresh air of China to the tune of 20M Euros a year over two 2 years.
