We've got Netflix streaming on our TV downstairs connected through the Wii. What's the best/easiest way to get our updstairs TV connected?

We use a "Smart" Blue Ray player - it was ~$70, Samsung, streams Netflix perfectly.god loves the sox said:
You need a phone, tablet or computer to access (and navigate) Netflix (or anything else) using a Chromecast. I think either a Roku or Apple TV is more convenient. The interface is on screen and they can be controlled by a remote (most conveniently, with a universal remote). Roku has more channels and content (e.g., Amazon), but I think the Apple TV Netflix interface is better.

The Chromecast is probably best bang for the buck, but you need to make sure your signal strength is strong, as I've heard (but haven't experienced) that a poor signal results in repeated buffering, as well as feeling comfortable using it with a phone/tablet/laptop from the room you're in (i.e. if your laptop is always downstairs, it could be a pain to have to bring it upstairs with you every time you want to watch Netflix). You also, obviously, need to have a USB port on your tv to plug it in (AppleTV and Roku connect via HDMI).
I've had AppleTV for a few years and I think it's pretty great. I also have an iphone and ipad, so I'm definitely an Apple guy, but the thing I like about AppleTV is that it just works. Hook it up, turn it on, and you're good to go. If you've got iTunes, you can get all that too. The Roku required a bit more setup up front, but you also get to choose which "channels" you want on your home screen. It also comes with the most user friendly remote control of the three.
Really, you'll be fine with any of these, esp. if you're just using it for Netflix. If you want to have more options and bells and whistles, I'd look at the Roku or AppleTV.

If you ever play local media, the Western Digital TV Live SMP supports way more formats than the Roku/AppleTV. It handles Netflix perfectly.B H Kim said:
I'm a big fan of the Roku 3. It's fast, the interface is nice, it supports Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, MLB.TV, Youtube, HBOGo (although not for Comcast, which sucks) and a bunch of other services. It also has a headphone jack on the remote, so you can watch TV while your spouse is sleeping without getting yelled at.
