MJ, thanks for the information. Is it possible for you to post the image with the pitches? Or, failing that, could you direct me to a web page with the pitches? Thanks in any case.

Remy commented on it during the game. PitchFX data comes out after the game.
The full-game pitchfx strikezone chart mixes all the pitchers together, so it's hard to pick out Wright's contribution. Instead here is Wright's strike zone, bearing in mind that the upper and lower edges of the rule book strike zone vary for batters of different heights, while the chart below is not adjusted to individual batters:

It looks like Wright got squeezed pretty hard in every direction. I saw only a few innings, but in those he was losing all the borderline calls. I didn't think Butler was doing such an awful job of framing, but he's no Christian.

He's back! It's only spring training, but I don't care. Starting against the Orioles today, Wright got the win while wearing #65.

hey, he intrigues me too...seems like he has a chance to be in the mix in some way (in other words, to pitch in the majors at some point this year).  if he gets a shot, hopefully he makes the most of it...

I think he should be part of the Opening Day bullpen. We pretty much know that there will be at least one guy in the bullpen who Farrell doesn't trust and will relegate to a mop up role. It might as well be Wright.

Wright took the mound in the 9th inning against the evil Yankees this afternoon. When he entered the game, the score was 10-4, Red Sox. When he exited after one inning of work, it was 10-6 Red Sox.

IP    H    R    ER    BB    K    ERA

He gave up a home run, with one on, to Slade Heathcott.

And in Wright's latest spring outing, he does all right. In relief, he pitches his most innings so far in a single appearance.

3.0   2     0     0      1       0     3.00

So far, Wright has pitched in three games, with a line of:

6.0   6     3     2      2       4     3.00

Some interesting stuff from Alex Speier:
In light of research suggesting that relievers and the next day’s starter benefit from working in the wake of a knuckleballer (see what I did there?), Tim Britton of the Providence Journal bulldozed through a lot of data to figure out if Steven Wright’s teammates had been beneficiaries of the phenomenon.
The answer was fairly striking: “In 107 2/3 innings of relief behind Wright over the last two years, PawSox pitchers produced a 2.42 ERA and 2.85 FIP. … Based off their usual level of performance, one would expect those same relievers to submit a 3.69 ERA and 3.87 FIP over those innings. … Starters were about a half-run better in ERA and a run better in FIP [the day after] the other team had been thrown off by Wright’s knuckleball.”
In other words: Say that Wright had a 4.25 ERA and an identical FIP, and that the choice was between him and a starter with a 4.00 ERA and FIP. If that form held, a compelling case could be made for choosing Wright: The combined ERA of, say, six innings of Wright and the relievers who followed him would be expected to be better (based on this precedent) than with Wright and six innings of Starter B, and the performance of the next day’s starter might also benefit, at least in theory.

Wright got the start again today, and had an interesting outing. Judging from the box score information, all five hits came in the 4th inning, though I may be incorrect on that.

IP    H    R    ER    BB    K    ERA
3.2   5     5     0      3       3     1.32

So far this spring in five outings, he has only allowed earned runs in one outing. Good stuff.

EDIT: Just adding some more information.

Wright is back in AAA and back in this thread. Sorry for the late posting on his debute in Pawtucket. He started the home opener and did not fare well.

Back in AAA and loving it. He had the start and did very well. With starts such as this he may be back in the big leagues soon.

Is Wright one of those knuckleballers who can pitch frequently because of the relative lack of stress on his arm from the knuckler?

If so, I'm having a hard time understanding why he's not up given how desperately the team needs a long man for nearly every Masterson, Buchholz and Miley start.

Maybe the FO just doesn't think he's good enough to consistently pitch well in the majors.

He was recalled and then optioned back to Pawtucket on April 28, so I imagine it's a matter of waiting the 10-day period before being able to recall him (do I have that right?). This seems like the first season in a while where this 10-day option period has really jammed the revolving door between Pawtucket and Boston, otherwise I think we may have seen more of Wright, JBJ, and a couple other players who have ridden the shuttle so far.

Wright - Sep 2014 vs Yankees

Wright - May 2015 vs Oak.

He's made changes since last year - in 2014 he had essentially a knuckler and a very slow knuckle and a fast ball.
Now he seems to have established two knuckle speeds separated by about 5+ mph, and is throwing very few fastballs and super slow knuckles.
Can he get back to the control he showed in 2014?  His comments after last night sound like he's aware of what he needs to do.

11 ground balls last night, zero fly outs.  From the pitchFx it appears he's looking for called strikes on the fast knuckle, then get the ground ball on the slow one.

...Wright quickly surrendered an inherited run and another of his own. He also allowed a run in the fourth and another in eighth.
"I think I was overthrowing a little bit, a little antsy,'' said Wright. "But after that, I was able to calm down a little bit and concentrate on staying behind the pitch and throw quality knuckleballs in the zone.''

Wright had to get ready in a hurry. He got up in the bullpen after Josh Reddick homered to lead off the third and after a flyout and walk to the next two hitters by Masterson, Wright was summoned.

"I feel like it's an adjustment (getting ready quickly),'' said Wright. "I feel like I'm getting better and better at it every outing I go out. I think the biggest thing for me is staying behind the ball. I think sometimes I get caught up in trying to get an angle for the ball, which gets me on top and gets tumble. And when I start getting tumble, it's not very good.

"If I can just concentrate on staying behind it, then I'll be able to get a feel for it...My adrenaline has to calm down a little bit more, because I got a little antsy in the first couple of batters.''

After his rocky beginning, Wright then retired 14 of the next 16 hitters he faced before a walk and two singles in the eighth accounted for the final Oakland run....

He's back...and looking very good. In Wright's first start since his return from the major leagues, he did very well....and lost a 1-0 game with a run in the top of the ninth inning. His record in AAA this season is now 2-2.

Wright pitched today and took the loss in a 8-6 game against Lehigh Valley's wonderfully named Ironpigs. Wright went 6 shutout innings before letting up all 4 runs in the seventh, a 3 run homer doing the majority of the damage.
