Some positives for sure, but the back line is still a nightmare at times.  Didn't get exposed much today because Stoke never had the ball.

If I had to guess what position Chiriches played his entire life and I didn't know better, CB would not be one of my top two choices.  Besides looking extremely uncomfortable without the ball there, his skillset doesn't really fit the position.  He's short, not very strong, doesn't seem to understand the concept of marking -- but dribbles and passes very well.

Of the top teams, only Everton didn't grab 3 points. Really big game.

Adebayor pounding a Red Bull in the tunnel.

So, those kids that walk out with the visiting team in their uniform--are they just local kids that hate ManU? I guess for the most part little ManU fans wouldn't care about wearing, say a Swansea kit for that, but I doubt they'd wanna wear a Man City uni.

Lennon limping a bit already.

EDIT: And he should have buried that chance.

The salute was a nice cherry on the sundae after back peddling to the corner flag.

I bet AVB is crying in a flute of proseco right now.

Eriksen simply wanted that more than Valencia.

2-0

EDIT: 2-1. Shit.

Sherwood sure isn't shy about using youth, eh?

Bentaleb and Kane on for Capoue and Soldado in he last 10.

Wasn't Sherwood the director of the youth program or scouting or something? I bet he knows those younger players and their skills well enough to trust them in matches.

Sherwood handled the Spurs U21 team. Which, coincidentally, was where Adebayor was sent to train by AVB.

Yes, but my point is that he's not being conservative in Old Trafford holding a lead.  There aren't many managers with 4 games of experience willing to unclench enough to do that is what I'm saying.

Spurs interested in WBA's Shane Long with cash from Defoe's move and the possible sale of Naughton.

A blurb at bottom of this article mentions Holtby possible heading back to Germany on loan:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2532580/Joleon-Lescott-set-loan-Tottenham-Newcastle-Monaco-keen.html
German international Holtby, 23, is wanted by Bundesliga clubs on loan, including his old side Schalke.

Holtby said: ‘I would never rule out a return to the Bundesliga, especially to Schalke, where I had a great time, even though it might have come across differently during my move a year ago.’

Yes.

He's only made 1 other start in his career (vs. Arsenal in the FA cup) and he made his first team debut against Southampton before Christmas when he came on for Dembele.

Bentaleb in the starting 11. Is this is first PL start?

Yup.

And the thread title needs an update - Jermain Defoe is now Canada's greatest goal scorer as he's signed with Toronto & MLS and will likely get his last runout at White Hart today (on the bench to begin).

He doesn't go until Feb 28th.

We play Dnipro on Feb 20th and then again on the 27th.  That's like 4 more goals he can score for us.

Having a tough time unlocking this CP defense.

EDIT: Bentaleb with a bolt. Wow. Off the woodwork though.

Yay, Sherwood is just as tactically inflexable as ABV was.

Also, Soldado and Adebayor have raped and murdered both these commentators entire families.

Misheard the broadcast. And I think 4 is conservative for Europe's Greatest Goalscorer. Poor Dnipro.

It looks like someone attacked his head with a lawnmower.

Spurs look like shit. Palace looks like a team in the midst of a smash & grab. Had they hit the penalty, there might be boos at halftime. Shit performance, time for some subs.

Spurs need to get more positive and hold possession better so I would take off Adebayor and put in Capoue at the half, and then probably take off Dembele for Holtby.

The problem is the best two players on the team so far have been Bentaleb and Dembele by a wide margin.

Walker hurt? If not that's an odd sub in the 48th minute.

And Eriksen held that ball like my son, I wanted to yell "Shoot son!!!"

A lot more pressure so far.

Nice for Defoe.

EDIT: Lennon to Defoe. All that goal was missing was Jermaine Jenas.

ATTENTION: Tottenham now has a positive goal differential!!!

Chadli and Eriksen are interchanging on the left/second striker role well, and Dembele is being bracketed in the middle so most of the action is going through Rose/Walker on the flanks, since Lennon is actually playing deeper and Bentaleb is having his worst game so far.

Dembele also had a really nifty move on the right earlier but couldn't pick out Adebayor.

Announcer Shitting on Ade Moment: Just said that Adebayor should have had a better pass to Chadli on the 3-on-1 breakaway and Spurs should have scored. The pass was from Walker.
