Re WMB's eyesight, what effect might the new contacts be having on his defense, which is noticeably worse? May we hope that there's a period of adjustment and it all turns out well?

He could go all Nerd Power 2.0, although he'd probably pull off the glasses look better than Sogard. See, Sogard has the gal sideline reporter talking to him, no problem.

This 2012 article: http://www.providencejournal.com/sports/red-sox/content/20120316-baseball-vision-when-20-20-eyesight-just-wont-cut-it.ece
Specifically cites a former Red Sox consultant (working for the Cubs at the date of the article) as doing everything he could to get ML players to 20/12 vision.  Is this something the Sox have stopped doing in the post-Theo era?
The consultant was working for several teams at that time, including both the Red Sox and the Cubs.

FWIW, I've done some periodic consulting work for them since they presented to a VC incubator conference weekend thing in TX a few years ago. Without talking about their clients specifically, there's been public discussion of their work with the Sox as recently as last October:

Here's a more recent article, with video of their product's use at the Indians' camp at the 1:35 mark (from the VoA, of all places):

Not sure where else to put this, but for those of you on Carp-or-maybe-Nava-watch, the Brewers appear to be about to release Juan Francisco, which means they're about to head into the season with Mark Reynolds and Lyle Overbay in a first-base platoon. They've been linked to Carp in the past. Of course, this would raise the question of what the Brewers could even offer at this point that the Red Sox would be interested in.

So Doobie is getting smoked.  9.64 ERA so far this spring.   Maybe that fat was the David Wells/Rich Garces kind of fat?
He looked great in his first two or three starts, with pinpoint control. Not locating well in the last two or three?

Just for the record, it's 16 degrees this morning where I live (in southern NE).  Sixteen.  And opening day is a little over a week away?

FWIW, the 10-day forecast for Baltimore shows 66 degress and party cloudy for next Monday.

I'll see your 11-below and raise you the NWS blizzard warning that's up for Wednesday here on Cape Cod.

Speaking of next Monday... I would like to piggy back on this post to see if there is going to be any SoSH contingent at Camden for opening day. If someone more worthy than I would start a thread with any pre or post game celebratory info, that would be huge. Look forward to cheering on the WS Champs.  I was there for the end of 2011. This will be much, much better.

I'm trying to get my kid into an extra day of school so I can drive down...but my partner is in court and won't be able to pick him up at 5:30, so I'm either screwed, or I have to bring him, which is the same as being screwed.

Jonny Gomes is the man.  Bought these for all his teammates.  I had heard the story, but hadn't seen the picture yet.
Sorry if posted elsewhere...didn't see it and thought others might want to see a picture as well.

[I'm still calling it] The Mayor's Cup is OURS AGAIN!
I thought the series was tied 2-2 heading into today. They still play once more tomorrow meaning the Twins could tie. Unless this is like Ryder Cup where the Cup stays with the champion in case of a tie.

You've got bingo.  As the Sox won the cup last year, they maintain possession in case of a tie.  The Mayor's Cup is Dormie

I am going to today's game too. Where will you be sitting? To answer your question I think they just credit your debit or credit card.

Bringing your school aged male child to opening day is the same as being screwed? Interesting.
