Had 6 make it. Won't win big money but I should cash.

And yes, took a few weeks to realize that making cuts is the key. Although I should mention that the scoring system is still a bit baffling. (Volatility is much more valuable than steady play.)

Those big contests are so hard--hundreds in there are going to have 6 guys make the cut and if you don't you have no shot.
Out of curiosity, are there other contest formats you think are easier (in terms of making money)? I had kinda assumed that the big contest might be easier insofar as the proportion of casual players would likely be higher.

I'm not in it to make money. I look at these like $5 bets with my buddies. I like the SoSH league because essentially we're all "friends" here so someone I "know" is winning a little bit of money.

I think the 50/50 leagues (just under half of entrants double their money) or the 1v1 head to head ($10 entry wins you like $18) are the best bets.

But sure, I don't mind the big ones once in a while--but it's almost like a lottery ticket, especially in baseball. Just way too much daily fluctuation. Some 5th starter can shut down a whole lineup once in a while or your expensive SP can get shelled.

Note, I was invited to this week's contest (by mistake, I assume) and while I would LOVE to join, I'm blocked. I just wanted to mention it because I'm not sure if that will kill the league.

Does that mean we're short a player? We have 8 of 9 signed up.

The thought has occurred to me...what if we just had an eight-man league, and the last person to sign up each week didn't get to take part? Might be a nice hedge against the sort of thing that happened last week, and also an encouragement to everyone to at least get a provisional team submitted quickly.

I would rather have 95% of the weeks full participation than have to have someone sit out each week because they were busy. I can live with missing a week here and there to get full participation.

Is there a delay down there?

I've had a golfer "Through 1" for hours.

My losing streak has gotten absurd. I can't access results going back more than a month, but I feel like my average finish is about 4.5 yet never exceeds 3rd.

I entered a different squad than the one that won this league in a larger money league. Had I entered the same one, I would have done pretty well.

FYI, Colt Knost has pulled out of the Zurich Classic today with an injury - I had him in a few of my projected lineups this week and almost by accident discovered just now that he was out. (If you select a player who doesn't play for any reason, would your entry would still stay active, or would your entry be cancelled? Just wondering if anyone knows the answer to that...)

Your entry would stay active, and you would just get zero points for that guy. Draftkings puts a little red circle next to guys who drop out of lineups late.

Hmmm...here are the full Fantasy Golf rules for DraftKings:

https://www.draftkings.co.uk/help/pga

Money quote for this week:
SHORTENED TOURNAMENTS
DraftKings uses PGA Tour statistics as provided by STATS LLC and includes all round and scoring data that the PGA Tour and STATS LLC deems to be official and complete. If the PGA shortens an event for any reason, then the statistics that are generated for the portion of the tournament that has been completed will be used to finalize and payout contests.
My understanding is that unless 40% of the field completes the third round this week - which might not happen, given all the rain around - all of the scores from the third round are wiped out and the scores at the end of 36 holes are used to determine the winner. I wonder what the last sentence quoted above means in this context...would they rewind the stats back to the end of the second round, or would all points banked until now remain in place (except as regards the final leaderboard, which would obviously be different)?

Well, it looks like they are getting the 3rd round in, so it won't matter this week.

So, $80 is the breakeven point if you've entered every week (14 at $5 and 1 at $10).

I am in vacation in Ireland and it is not letting me submit a team. If someone wants to sign in and enter for me, we can go that way. Or I can sit this week out!

Big money week.

A nice, deep field, so there could be a lot of lineup variation this week.

This week's SoSH value pick is.... JB Holmes. Let's hope he fares better than past fan favorites Brooks Koepka (MC), Jerry Kelly (T65), and Retief Goosen (T72).
