Would people like to do this again? I just got the email saying I could start setting up the league. If we still have interest I'll go ahead and create it. I look forward to finishing mid-table yet again.

I'm in.

Which means, I'll select a team, manage it pretty good for a few weeks, then, as it slides down mid-table, let it wither and die.

i really hate the format, hate that I can never remember to make transfers, and hate that I'm never particularly good at this.

I'll probably sign up later this afternoon.

Fantasy Premier League is without question the best formatted fantasy game out there for soccer. Been playing it since 07/08 season. ESPN, Champions League, and all the other sites out there are just terrible in comparison.

In FPL you can't just assemble a team full of world class all stars so it actually requires you to have some knowledge of teams and players outside the traditional league power houses. The limiting of free transfers also rewards people who are patient and study the fixtures and penalizes people who just make crazy transfers every week, as is the case on a lot of other fantasy sites.

August 17 literally cannot get here soon enough.

Oh, you pick a team first, and then you join a league?  This is going to take some time.  I figured I'd sign up today and have some time to prepare for a draft.  Guess not.

Don't worry too much at this stage about finalising your squad, you have until Aug 17th to do that. I've just used the auto-complete function in order to register and I'll do the details once the transfer deadline approaches.

I'm in - Banana Split. I've been playing this version of the game since the 2006/07 season and I'm nothing if not consistent:

2006/7 - 1933 points
2007/8 - 1936
2008/9 - 1941
2009/10 - 1933
2010/11 - 1953
2011/12 - 1813
2012/13 - 1932

Yeah, cjd's got a good point: you can just use auto-complete to set up the team for now, just to get registered in the league. You have almost another month to make all the changes you want to your team.

Glad to see so much interest. Should be a fun year.

Cool.  In with auto-complete.  Off to figure out who the hell the midfielders for Stoke and Swansea are. . .

Can you find last year's numbers on the site? I was looking but didn't see it.

From the 'My Team' page look for the 'Points/Rankings' box on the right and click the 'View gameweek history' link. All your previous seasons points should be in there.

In. Last year was very hit or miss for me, if I had one week with 60-80 points I'd follow it up with a couple weeks below the average. Putting a lot of stock in Wanyama and van Wolfswinkel, hopefully that works out. Hopefully Lambert has another strong year.

No you'll spend basically the entire amount to make a strong team to start the season. Only reason to keep any money in reserve is so you could have more wiggle room making transfers in the first couple of gameweeks to get your team set.

When building your team it's helpful to always be looking at the upcoming fixtures of the players you're choosing and who you could possibly swap them out for on the weekly free transfer if they were to get injured, hit a terrible run of form, or come up against a tough couple of fixtures. You only get 1 free transfer a week and it can accumulate to 2 if you don't use your free transfer from the week before. Any transfer after your free one is a 4 point deduction, which you really want to avoid. It's very easy to get transfer happy and think you'll make up the point deduction with the new players you're bringing in, but it rarely works out that way.

Thanks. Although based on my numbers I'm not sure I should say thank you for allowing me to see that.

I play fantasy (Amurrican) football, and this seems to work so much differently.  Are there trades in this shizznit?

edit: not saying I mind, I think this is awesome.  I'm just confused.

No trades. You can own any player you want, even if other teams do.

Your challenge is fitting the best team under the budget.

Given that you get a free transfer every week, is there really much point to spending money on depth?  For example, is it a solid strategy to have a pretty good striker (that costs, say, 7-7.5) as your third forward, and then to play the pairing that has the best matchups every week?  Or are you guys mainly going with two solid strikers and then a guy in the $4.5-5.5 range who is just used as an emergency backup?

I realize that different people might go for different strategies, just trying to get thoughts on how the game plays.

I'm new at this too but I really don't think you want to be starting just 2 strikers, 3-4-3 seems like the best way to go

Just found this post...I've been running a league for a few years now and have won it every time. I would enjoy some competition if you'll let me join.....is this a money league?

So every year around the draft of my fantasy football league, I start checking out rotoworld, and footballoutsiders, and all those other sites, and if I have a long train ride, I'll get one of those stupid FFL magazines to see whether I should spend my 9th round pick on Jonathan Stewart or Rahshad Mendenhall.

Is there the equivalent for the EPL?  Any good websites to check out so I can figure out who this dude from Stoke is that got autopicked for me?

Lowest level of hell.
I'm in. Should be fun to watch my midfield rack up the points as other than my keeper my team is horribad due to my poor spending habits.
