Yeah. Shit. Wow. With that focus and that jab he could be a very good champion for a very long time. Go knock out Joshua. For 'America.

Fight Dr. Ferdie Pacheco died yesterday at 89. Here's a good write-up in the Tampa Bay Times

http://www.tampabay.com/news/obituaries/Ferdie-Pacheco-the-Fight-Doctor-and-Muhammad-Ali-s-physician-dead-at-89_162712822

He was a Tampa icon; he had a huge painting in the USF Library, and others around town. I'm too young to remember his work with fighters, but his commentary was very memorable. In an otherwise forgetable title fight between Bruce Seldon and Joe Hipp, Jim Lampley said, during a highlight of Seldon mercilessly landing jab after jab, that Hipp was the first Blackfoot Indian to fight for a HW title. To which Pacheco remarked "I think 'Joe Hipp' translated from Blackfoot means 'Eat a jab'"

edit: added HW

Is tonight the best non-PPV fight ever? Hyperbole I know (and the fight itself might end up being bad) but I can't remember a cable matchup of this quality.

Floyd/Corrales was regular HBO. That ended up being very one sided but was my most looked forward to regular HBO fight.

No one is matching their amateur accolades but on paper this fight is pretty one sided. I'd put Thurman Porter on CBS last year up there too.

I don't see how anyone who watches boxing doesn't think Loma is the best fighter right now. It's not even close.

I recognize the one-sided nature, or appearance. And Rigondeaux is old.

So I'm going out on a limb and will be the first to admit if I'm wrong, but I think he gives him a lot of trouble. Not quite enough to win but I think it's way closer than people think.

I thought Kovalev won the first fight and got hit in the dick three times in the second.

Regardless, Loma is the one guy I watch who I've just never seen anything like before. The footwork, reflexes, ability to go from offense to defense seamless. Nobody is close.

I felt similar about Kovalev fight but I thought I was on an island. Ward still crushed the super 6 and beat Kovalev 2x in the books. That’s impressive.

Lomachenko is no Dmitry Pirog. I’m still bitter about that back injury.

The first time I saw him fight it felt like watching an elite, top of his game boxer who had a freaking video game cheat code or something that he could press. Just insane.

Impressive yes. I don't know how to phrase this properly, but I can watch Mayweather or RJJ or Ward and get what they do. I can comprehend. I cannot comprehend what Loma does. I couldn't go out and do a pale impersonation. It just something different.

The reason I think it will closer has to do with the styles; I just think it will be difficult to dominate Rigondeaux.
Yeah. It's impossible to hit a good fighter who doesn't want to get hit. That's why I thought what SAS said was dumb. If Rigo doesn't want to engage, there's not a ton Loma can do, especially with the shorter reach.

The ref letting the holds go is a good sign for Rigo but I have a feeling he (the Ref) will only let that slide for another round or two. Rigo is going to feel emboldened and take it too far.

Loma really has to start fighting at his weight class. All this shoe shining and pitty pat sparring session crap is really boring.

It’s easy for me to say as I lay here injured on my couch, but I have never seen less heart than what Rigo just displayed.

Rigo made it to the top of the Cuban boxing system and manhandled Donaire when he was nearly invincible. Whatever. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Walters was a beast too. So was Duran.

I don't know what to say if you can't appreciate what you just saw.
It's not that I don't recognize his greatness. I just literally give 0 effs about him fighting guys he's wayyyyyyyyy fn bigger than. It doesn't interest me at all.

I don't what I can say if people are impressed by an all time talent continually having an overwhelming size advantage and looking great, that's the only way that math works out.

The one style that can give him problems is a true physical, inside fight which we can't see if he keeps dominating elves.

I'd feel differently maybe if his weight or height had anything to do with the win. If anything, Rigo was bullying.
