Ouch. Looks like GGG will be fighting belt holder Billy Joe Saunders or Jacobs next in December. Although HBO has some reservations about a Haymon fighter, Jacobs, on their network.

So what happens with Fury vs. Klitschko II?

Fury pulled out due to medical reasons (ankle?) for a 2nd time. Vlad didn´t fight since they met in November last year, which can only be bad for him. KMG (Klitschko´s agency) reserved the Hamburg arena for Dec.,10th as a backup for Manchester (already booked?) or as a backup if Fury cannot fight, i don´t know.

-What´s up with Fury´s doping hearing? Could that lead to a nullification of their 1st fight, a ban and titles going back to Klitschko?

-Why won´t Fury fight Klitschko again (this is how it seems)? He´s at his top, Klitschko is going away and he should fight him, that´s his biggest payday. If he loses, he loses and can come back after some buildups (when Klitschko is gone), if he wins, Klitschko goes away instantly and Fury can fight the other heavyweights as the biggest money draw. Why isn´t he trying to go for it? Is this purely on the Doping story or is he just dumb - or both?

My guess is Fury done for a while, it seems that he's out with mental health issues which is pretty serious. He'll get stripped and hopefully that Dec 10 date could be Wlad vs Joshua or Ortiz for the vacant belts.

It does suck that Wilder is injured, that would have been a massive replacement and boost for a real shitty boxing year.

Rumours from the UK are that Hearn is talking to Klitschko's team about a potential Joshua fight, but it's more likely Joshua fights his mandatory, Joseph Parker, the unbeaten guy from New Zealand.

adjust your Tv's accordingly

ESPN’s controversial commentator Stephen A. Smith will make his debut as a boxing analyst on Nov. 5 with a quadruple title fight, pay-per-view card headlined by Manny Pacquiao’s return against WBO welterweight champion Jessie Vargas at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.

With Top Rank handling its own pay-per-view card, the promotional giant need to come up with a notable broadcast team. Top Rank President Todd duBoef said recently that team would be a big surprise, and he was certainly right on that call.

Longtime boxing broadcaster and current MLB network host Brian Kenny will handle the blow-by-blow action, while Smith will be the color analyst and Charissa Thompson of Fox NFL Kickoff will host the broadcast.

Joining them will be former two-division and five-time world champion Timothy Bradley, who has fought Pacquiao three times and has defeated both Pacquiao and Vargas. He will provide color commentary and inside information on both fighters. Top Rank’s Crystina Poncher rounds out the team as a roving reporter.

“We wanted to give the viewers a different perspective that informs and entertains and I think we have accomplished that with this fantastic team,” said duBoef. “It’s a great combination with Brian, one of television’s top TV announcers, color commentary from Stephen A. and Charissa ‘s balanced hosting style. The expert analysis from Tim will round this out perfectly as he is considered one of the best fighters in the world and has secured victories against both Pacquiao and Vargas.”

Heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury, who pulled out of an Oct. 29 rematch with former champion Wladimir Klitschko last week for unspecified reasons, has been notified that he tested positive for cocaine.
I'd assume that's enough to get him stripped and make Wlad/Fury more attractive as a title fight.

Saw an article that they're trying to make Wlad/AJ, which would be a better fight. I'm also insanely excited for Lima-Walter. November could be a great month for the sport.

Completely misspoke/typed. I meant Wlad/AJ which would be awesome.

Loma/Walters has the potential to be a really great fight. Almost worth this slow September-October.

As serious and sympathetic I am to people with mental illness, Fury is such a world class douche that part of me thinks he's using it as an angle to justify his partying

Just as a reminder to Marciano and the other boxing heads in here, October blows but don't get lulled to sleep. November is a great fight month.

Pacquiao/Vargas is tonight. Vargas is game and Pac is still a fucking legend so it should be a good scrap. Donaire and future star Oscar Valdez is also on the card. Should be a decent card.

Only downside...it's non HBO/Showtime so one of the ppv analyst will be Stephen A Smith

What time would you estimate the main fight to be?

Pacman with a clinical victory. And Mayweather had a front row seat to the fight, sparking speculation about a possible rematch.

Pacquiao looked great early but Vargas really did a decent job. He landes some shots to keep him honest and defensively I thought he did a decent job with spacing to slow pac down a bit.

Still though, pac won about 9 or 10 rounds to me and looked good. I'd watch him against Crawford

Marciano, two one sided fights on today. Danny Garcia and Luis Ortiz (on now actually). It'll help you get your mind off the election

What do you think Garcia's upside is? I love the power and chin, but he's a bit sloppy And short reach of course. Though all the top hws have flaws right now and power is a great equalizer. I'd like to see him step up but I imagine the other guys will wait him out a year or two and hope he declines.

I assume you meant Ortiz? I don't know if it's upside because he's so old to me he's already at his best. Flaws noted, he has the spirit and style of a weight class or two below him. He comes to fight in a slow and plotting division. I think that, same for Wilder, covers up a lot of flaws.

If I had to go with my gut, as much as I am a fan, I think it's a toss up with Wilder and Joshua. But the other HWs? I think he smokes them.

Yes, sorry Ortiz. Man this ring is small.

I don't love him. He's sloppy and not a fluid puncher. I think Joshua and a motivated, focused Wilder both handle him easily. His punches take forever to get there.

Only like 6 GGG mentions in a heavyweight fight. Not bad.
Useless GGG factoid, he started camp this week even though he has no fight schedule.

Ortiz looked like shit. I'm selling my Ortiz stock. You mentioned motivated Joshua or Wilder, those two are young, they'll be motivated. And now I agree, they beat him. Maybe easily

Watching Danny boy in that terrible mismatch last night reminded how much he wings his punches and how wide he gets. It's pretty remarkable how far he's gotten with seemingly slightly above average skills

I'm excited to watch this and I'm a huge Kovalev fan, but I'm anticipating a boring fight. Ward is going to do a lot of holding and butting and elbowing and Kovalev, for whatever reason given his strength and power and I believe sambo/wrestling background is not a great inside fighter. I think the Loma-Walters fight will be the big drama fight next week, if Walters comes in in shape and not too weight drained.

Agree on both counts of the potential for boredom and no press. But the fact that it's a meaningful fight between guys in their prime or slightly past can't be downplayed.

Two top 5 p4p fighters. I don't care what it looks like, I want to see it.

Also love that Ward hired Shilstone to train for this fight.

This is better than I thought. No clue why Ward keeps trying to catch Kovalev's punches. He jackhammers right through the guard.

Yeah I gave up counting. This is all too close. Kovalev never seems to come in great shape. Though the body shots are definitely playing a part in that.

No clue how to score this. I think I have it 6-5 Kovalev with an extra point from the kd. I don't know who to give that last one to.
