So who are the Atlantic All Stars?

From Sean Leahy's Twitter:
Top 4 vote-getters from each division will be AS Tournament capts. Remaining 40 picked by Hockey Ops. All 30 teams will be repped, per NHL.
There are 11 spots on the Atlantic roster, and 1 spot is guaranteed to go to each team in the Atlantic.

Roster is probably going to be 2G, 6F, 3D

At this point, I think 6 spots are locked:

F: Eichel (Buffalo)
F: Krecji (Boston)
F: Pacioretty (Montreal)
G: Price/Condon (Price if he's healthy, Condon if not) (Montreal)
D: Karlsson(Ottawa)
D: Subban(Montreal)

I also think that one of Pacioretty/Price/Subban will win the fan vote.

So, with the remaining 5 picks, we need 1 player from Detroit, Toronto, Tampa Bay, and Florida. We also need 3 more Forwards, 1 more defenseman, and 1 more goalie.

I think Reimer, at 6-2-3 with a 2.19GAA crosses off the other goalie and Toronto's pick. Mrazek kinda gets screwed here because Toronto really has no one else to send.

I think Jagr gets the Florida spot, just because of the attention it would bring, and also because he's leading them in points.

I think Florida's pick goes to Stamkos

I think Zetterberg goes for Detroit.

We're at:
F: Eichel (BUF)
F: Krecji (BOS)
F: Pacioretty (MON)
F: Jagr (FLA)
F: Stamkos(TB)
F: Zetterberg (DET)
D: Subban(MON)
D: Karlsson(OTT)
D: Markov(MON)
G: Price/Condon (MON)
G: Reimer (TOR)

Markov has the most points of any D not considered privately, so he's in too.

Given that Montreal is 9 points up on 2nd 19 games into the season, they should get 4 selections.

How would you construct the team? Who would you pick?

Hard to argue with a lot of those picks. The differential in points between the Montreal D and everyone else is going to get them both elected unless the Toronto fanbase goes crazy and somehow gets Phaneuf elected (yuck). The only spot I could see flip-flopping is Bergeron getting in instead of Krejci, who has cooled off a little after his insane start of the season.

That looks about right, but for Buffalo on merits O'Reilly should probably be their rep. Detroit could send any of Hank, Larkin or Datsyuk. As a fan, I'd love to see Datsyuk there, but his health is an issue and he usually poo poo's the ASG. I'd have Hedman in there over Markov.

The Metro and Central will be unstoppable.

F: Seguin, Benn, Tarasenko, Kane, Koivu, MacKinnon
D: Klingberg, Keith, Josi/Weber
G: Rinne, Allen

Koivu over Toews only because the Wild need a rep.

Metro

F: Tavares, Malkin, Ovechkin, Kuznetsov, Johansen, Giroux
D: Letang, Faulk, Carlson
G: Lundvist, Schneider

The each team needs to be represented really sucks, but I get it.

Eh, he's already back and the ASG is a few months away. If he's still healthy, he probably gets in. Although I forgot to include the Jets, so Big Buff can take his spot too.

Wheeler's been pretty filthy for them at a PPG but I doubt he has the name recognition of Buff and might not be able to unseat any of the other forwards.

I think it will be really hard to keep a guy tied for 4th in the league in scoring out of the all star game.

The "each team must be represented" rule will make it easier thank you think to leave a guy like Wheeler (or Artemi Panarin who is also T4 in scoring) home. At the moment, 8 of the top 10 scorers in the league play in the central, 7 of them are forwards. Only 6 forward spots. Can't bring them all. It's hard putting together a team within the rules.

It'll sort itself out with injuries and everything. Probably best to kick out the Pacific team and just have Central teams though. Can do Dallas/Chicago vs. everyone else.
