Stealing this from the Brighton boards: a practical approach to this season for BHA is to assume 40 points = safety. Those points will presumably come against the lower half of the league. Call the “lower half” last year’s PL bottom 8 + Huddersfield & Newcastle. Beat those teams at home and draw them on the road, and assume no other points - you get to 40.

A fan laid this out against the schedule to make it easy to see if Brighton was “ahead” or “behind” of gathering these most gettable points.

After Newcastle home we’re running a point behind. Not bad. Hoping modest expectations and a little context are the keys to sanity as we hover around the bottom 3 all year.

@Dummy, what is the nature of the Wednesday/United split? Religion? Geography?

Also, how did CCV (young US CB) look for United?
When Wednesday moved out of Bramall Lane in 1887 (the owners were charging the club out the wazoo to rent the stadium), the Lane continued to host footy and cricket, so the owners thought they'd create a team to fill the stadium- United was born. There are geographic splits (S2 v S6) within the city that roughly divide it. Wednesday is older, bigger, better (although not yesterday)

CCV was playing the right side of the back 3 and he looked fine...Wednesday were wretched though, so there wasn't much challenge aside from 20 minutes early in the 2nd half. I think he's pretty serviceable at this level though.

Controversial start so far. Clear penalty by Mustafi either missed or ruled an advantage, and Čech makes a save with Livermore missing a follow-up to preserve a 0-0 draw.

Meanwhile, Evans catches Elneny late at the edge of the box, and despite the ball falling to Sanchez, Bobby Madley does not play an advantage. Arsenal score off the rebound on the ensuing free kick.

Arsenal lucky to be up right now. Definitely should have been a PK on the Mustafi tackle and Monreal made a fantastic save on a crossed header.
