I hope Prince Ali runs again and wins this time, but I doubt it. UEFA is never voting for a non-Euro and he made too many enemies in Asia and probably Africa to win. So it will likely be Platini and slightyl less corruption, but a funnelling of more money to UEFA and burying small nations and the women's game.

“@martynziegler: BREAKING: FIFA announce that Secretary General Jérôme Valcke has been put on leave and released from his duties effective immediately 1/2”
“@martynziegler: ”FIFA has been made aware of series of allegations involving the Secretary General + requested formal investigation by FIFA Ethics Committee”

“@martynziegler: Allegations against Valcke are that he was implicated in scheme selling World Cup and Confed Cup tickets for several times their face value.”

They've opened an investigation in Switzerland against Mr. Joseph Blatter.

I just love that he is referred to as Joseph - "As for all defendants, the presumption of innocence applies for Mr. Joseph Blatter."

@ben_rumsby: Platini finally gives his reason for Fifa not paying him until 2011: they said they couldn't afford to.

But now what corrupt official will become president after Sepp finally leaves us.

Acting president is Issa Hayatou (investigated for accepting "gifts" in the ISL standard, not punished as FIFA had no rule against bribery at that point)

Here is a nice breakdown of the high level officials:

He was confident enough to come to Canada to present the Women's World Cup when Sepp was too afraid of getting nabbed to travel.

Nobody in the US is bribing him. His bribes are all from Africa and the Middle East, why would he fear getting arrested? Most of his money comes directly from the despots in charge of the various oligarchies, monarchies and dictatorships under his purview.

If any of those bribes were in USD, he could be a target by the American authorities.

FEEL BAD FOR ME!

The 79-year-old had consulted a doctor after feeling unwell and, although no underlying problem was discovered, he was then told to rest. He has since suffered what has been described as “a nervous shock” and is likely to be supervised by doctors for several days.

“My brain and my heart are always fine, my body is letting me down,” he reportedly said.

The field is shaking out for the FIFA top spot. Articles full of "nasty lies" and "alleged torturers"

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/11/13/sports/soccer/fifa-president-election-soccer.html

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/early-lead/wp/2015/11/12/an-alleged-torturer-could-replace-sepp-blatter-as-fifa-president/

“If a member of Bahrain’s royal family is the cleanest pair of hands that FIFA can find, then the organization would appear to have the shallowest and least ethical pool of talent in world sport,” Human Rights Watch researcher Nicholas McGeehan told the Guardian last month."

Obviously in a perfect world this organization in its current state would simply be disbanded, but since that is impossible we should be praying for Prince Ali, right? He certainly talks a good game (even if running as the anti-Blatter is a no-brainer), but how much does this election even matter when the show is likely still being run by countless corrupt pieces of human garbage who are only interested in maintaining the line-our-pockets status quo?

Change a few words in this post and you could easily pass if off as a post about the 2016 US Presidential election. Fuck me.

Matt Scott of Inside World Football thinks that either the US or Swiss authorities could have FIFA shutdown.

http://www.insideworldfootball.com/matt-scott/18407-matt-scott-is-fifa-immoral-if-so-the-swiss-will-soon-wind-it-up

"This is deeply resonant of an organization whose aim has become "unlawful or contrary to morals". Should the allegations made against FIFA by the US Department of Justice and the Swiss attorney general be upheld, in the context of all the prior scandals that have shaken FIFA over decades, it would surely take only a simple request to the Swiss court from either party to shut down FIFA."

Press conference at 1:30pm ET today. Word on Twitter is that charges against 16 people will be announced. I've read that Marco Polo Del Nero and Ricardo Teixeira (current and former CBF presidents) are on the list.

With the arrest of Hawit and Napout, it means that the last three presidents of both CONCACAF and CONMEBOL have been arrested.

Also this is interesting:
