Well, you could start him against lefties, which is a fair amount of starts, but I guess Selsky seems like fine filler.

Just literally hadn't heard his name. Guess we picked him up on waivers and I didn't watch as much spring ball as I thought.

He looked pretty serviceable this spring.

Selsky being up is a short-term thing, mostly as insurance that Moreland is recovered from the flu. He's probably gone in favor of Hernandez or Rutledge at the first point the team is confident in either Hanley's throwing shoulder or Moreland's ability to play everyday.

The Sox are scheduled to see one lefty starter in the first week or so. Opportunities for Selsky are going to be very limited unless something significant happens. Not a spot to start the clock on Travis.

In theory, it's a fair amount of starts, but in reality the are only likely to face 4 LHSP over the first 24 days of the season.

Considering that fact in conjunction with the need to give Ben Taylor the only obvious 40-man roster spot due to the debilitated nature of the rotation and bullpen, and it makes a lot of sense.

Hopefully, the infield will be relatively insulated against LHP relievers through a combination of Panda rebounding back to fair as a RHH, and Farrell being able to use Young as a PH for Moreland when needed.

Never mind. I moved my post to another, more appropriate thread.

How bad is Selsky gonna sucksky?
Less than Brentz? He may end up surprising people. His minor league track record isn't terrible (although he was old for every league). His 2014 and 2015 seasons were shortened and devoid of any power but in 2016 the power came back. He also has no real split to speak of.
