Sound F/X is on NFL Network from 8-9 tonight
Inside the NFL (Showtime) reairs on NFL Network from 9-10:30 tonight.
I watched Inside the NFL last night and Sound FX tonight; listening to the audio and seeing the sideline stuff, my two takeaways are it's easy to see what coaching tree Quinn comes from, all he does is fist pump, cheerlead and babble on the sideline, his theatrics on the pic six case in point and Sanu doesn't shut the fuck up for a minute on the field or on the bench.

Sanu and Ryan both played at Rutgers right? Might explain some of the mouthiness. I don't mind it. These guys all talk crazy shit.

Watching this stuff is just amazing. Incredible that the sideline comments (at least the parts they showed) were always upbeat and felt they had a chance. Defense and offense encouraging each other.

Sanu I thought was funny. The comment roughly 'you watch film in slo-mo, well that's how Brady runs' I thought was pretty good.
And Gabriel's comment, somewhere in the second quarter, about it isn't over because they have Tom Brady is pretty incredible. Opposing players having that level of fear / respect is impressive.

Not just that. They were roommates. I think this is just a really public airing of what they probably used to do on the practice field, playing Horse and Fifa. You don't ever talk more shit to anyone than the friends you know the best.

Gabriel reminded me of Muhsin Muhammad after he scored the go ahead TD in SB38.

Didn't realize this, really cool that they matched up against each other in the Super Bowl.

The annoying thing about Jules in this soundfx and inside the NFL. Is him going crazy jumping in Brady's arms than Brady says "they have to review it" then jules immediately switches to " it's not over mode" (acting like he was that way the whole time) till Belichick comes to him.

He's the annoying little brother always trying to hang with big brother. it's a funny quirk to a really great football player.

I'd have to rewatch, but I think even in that exchange Sanu agreed with what Gabriel was saying, but was saying the Pats wouldn't stop their offense so it won't matter.

Another big brother/little brother moment (hope no one already pointed out) is when Brady runs out and does his air punch, Jacoby is right behind him doing the same thing.

I thought that was pretty good. I'm sure there was nearly three quarters of stuff from the Patriots that was largely unusable or not exactly compelling that got left on the edit room floor.

Too bad there was no "there's no new plays here" moment or anything really from Belichick. I like the bit with McDaniels telling them not to try to do too much and that they weren't going to get it all back at once.

Blount comes across as really likeable to me. Accountable. Good teammate.

Just got a chance to watch it - thanks bc. Watched it with a solid buzz, but pretty sure I saw/heard Branch say they ain't running on us anymore (start of second half). Prophetic and very cool! That mind set seemed big to me.

Really got a good sense of what a leader Hightower is too. Particularly enjoyed his candid, "it ain't alright" after it was 21-6 and guys were saying, "it's alright". Not panicking, but being realistic too.

There were several shots during the game of BB talking to players on the bench. Would love to hear that stuff. but overall, a serious amount of non-panic. And if the situations were reversed, BB doesn't go crazy. Its why the game *never* speeds up for him. Its the closest I can come to answering the question of why so many teams piss down their leg at crucial spots against the Patriots. There are so many people that are so revved up that there arent enough sobering influences.

it doesn;t guarantee victory -- obviously they could have easily lost -- but it makes them much harder to beat / allows them to maximize their chances of winning no matter how steep the momentary odds.

Well said. It's amazing how much stuff happens in every second of a football game and yet it seems like Belichick is able to slow down time and observe every little detail. It's the difference between Russell Wilson coming off the field and asking a bewildered Pete Carroll "hey, what just happened?" and Belichick winning the Super Bowl and having a ten minute conversation with Chris Berman about every tiny little detail that had just transpired.

NFL Network had a half hour show last night, unsure if it's new, that was just Brady mic'd up throughout his career.

recorded it. My wife said, "enough" after sound fx and then inside the nfl.

I hadn't really connected his in-game abilities with his post-game breakdown with Berman, but it probably does come from the same place.

A few of the shows caught a great postgame moment between Slater and his dad. They are giggling like kids. It reads to me not just as elation, but also that they know how the Pats stole one they had (almost) no business winning.

Man, it got a little dusty in here when Jules said, "Let's go score and win this thing baby. For your Mom. For your Mom, bro"

Wasn't there a clip of Quinn in his post-game interview being questioned about something and him not being able to remember. I seem to recall his answer was something like "it's all a blur."

And that isn't meant as a slight against Quinn, I think that is how most humans are wired: when adrenaline is extremely high, your short-term recall goes down, after the fact. It's why eyewitnesses to traumatic events are so unreliable.

Rather, Quinn's normal reaction is more a reflection on how ABNORMAL BB is.

I'm pretty sure you're right about that, and I had almost posted about it when it happened but later forgot about it because the post-game stuff was mostly a blur to me. So I ended up going with the Wilson/Carroll moment as an example instead. Belichick is just wired in a different way that lets him instantly diagram a play Navy ran in 1959 or recall the effectiveness of a few long snaps over a decade ago.

Watching these, Matt Ryan doesn't seem very focused on the side lines...walking around, talking all the time. Especially as things took a turn for the worse for them.

It's funny to think if the Pats fail on the last 2 pt conversion, Ryan would have been vaulted into the 'elite' QB category.

I think he proved himself this post season. Didn't have a productive 4th quarter, but he had a perfect passer rating going into it.

Yeah Ryan is already and elite QB. He screwed a couple of things up pretty royally in the second half but he is a top 5 QB right now.

Funny how? The dude won the MVP and was lights out this postseason. He's absolutely a top 5 QB now.

The passing rating stat is exceedingly misleading. Even in the first half with the perfect rating the Falcons were not converting third downs. The guy is great, but he refuses to throw the ball away and has great ratings, but eventually sacks mount and the costly turnover.

Ryan almost didn't turn the ball over this year and he completed 73% of his passes for 9.6 yards per attempt on third down in 2016. He had an absolutely incredible season by any measure, and was great until the 4th quarter of the Super Bowl. It's insane to take one quarter over 18 and 3/4 games of brilliant QB play. Matt Ryan right now is the third best quarterback in the league, let's see how he performs after this agonizing loss and a chance of OC, but all the result of the Super Bowl altered for him is that he went from being a probable Hall of Famer to "just" a top tier NFL QB. Let's not discredit the season he had.

Seriously?

Several of those throws Ryan had were absolute lasers that were dropped on a dime.

Pats players were actually in perfect position on many of them and Ryan put it where his receiver could fight for it (and often won).

Ryan did more than enough to show he's a top tier QB in this league.
