Bazz!

LOL at the uconn cheerleader comments. Long story, but a larger girl sued the school about 8 years ago saying they cut her from the squad because of her weight. so...the cheerleaders tend to be less "physically fit" than the newly formed Dance Squad. lol

UCONN in Madison Square Garden...don't get much more home court advantage than that in the tournament.

Uconn is such a stupid team, it is infuriating. Fouling guys taking the 3 on D. Taking awful jumpers on offense.

Please don't let Villanova lose until CBS shows the Dove commercial with Jay Wright about 13 more times tonight.

He's so dreamy.

Stop. Seriously. Just stop. After all Duke/UNC games in Raleigh/Charlotte/Greensboro????

UNC in Greensboro would be comparable.  People act like Duke had some home court advantage in Raleigh yesterday, from what I heard/saw the whole arena was rooting for Mercer.

You're kidding about Duke, right?

No, he's not. Just because no Duke fans show up doesn't mean it isn't a huge advantage to be playing a 10-minute (Raleigh) or 2-hour (Greensboro) drive from your campus.

yep, because the bad shots fell, and Nova is playing terrible.
Nova lives and dies by the 3. Not surprising they can't sustain such hot shooting. Napier is playing like a first team all American and the supporting guys are having good nights. UConn was the better team.

Having lived in Atlanta 7 years and spending much of that time traipsing through NC, I beg to differ.

You're seriously telling me that ANY school from that state, whether it's Duke or NC-Wilmington, would rather be slotted in St. Louis, or San Antonio, or Spokane than in Greensboro or Raleigh? Don't make me laugh.

People really do hate Duke here.  They probably would have more of a home court advantage playing in MSG than they do in-state.

and yes, UCONN earned getting to go to New York, they didn't get a pod like Wisconsin or Syracuse.

Laugh away. The hatred for all things Duke in NC far exceeds any stupid commute advantage.

The only way Duke fans in Raleigh-Durham can afford to go to games is if they make money doing porn. All the ones with "traditionally-earned" money have left for DC NY or even Atlanta.

I was going to say, NYC probably is their best HC advantage outside Cameron.

UConn may very well have the opportunity to end the ACC's tournament. Given their desire to join the conference, that'd be pretty funny. At least to me.

oh, don't think this is not a big deal in storrs. lol

if they played ten times, uconn wins seven or eight. Villanova had SIX two point baskets all game, four by Pinkston. This is an easy team to defend and they have no NBA players. They get hot they can win, but anyone who watched that game that knows the game can tell you the better team won. and won easily

C'mon. Duke fans don't go to games outside Cameron. There might be poor people there.
Or worse..... minorities.

That is one game, Nova has been the better team all season. They had an elite defense, and a decent offense. They missed a ton of makeable 2's in this game, and that is why they lost. Also Uconn (Napier mostly) made a ton of tough shots.

I think local advantage in the NCAAs is more about flights and time zone differences than fans. Fans help, for sure, especially with refs, but not having to fly or alter your body clock is a real advantage.

This.  UConn very much earned their way to a great regional setup in New York City.  They'll be a very tough out at MSG.  I do think SU has more fans in NYC than UConn does, so if they played each other there, who knows which team has more support.

But it's completely moot since (1) they weren't in the same bracket, and (2) SU crapped the bed against Dayton.

Congrats to UConn - tremendous win last night.  Having guards that can score really does seem to be key in the NCAA tournament.
