We wouldn't expect Remy to follow Orsillo's lead and go quietly into that good night.

He knows a guy.

He knows a guy.

He also, unlike Orsilo, has no other job options.

Wouldn't surprise me if one reason the Sox were so blindsided by the Orsillo reaction was because they were focused on what would happen in response to a planned Remy transition in the offseason.

I gather that part of the contract is for his two girls to be able to make numerous trips to the West coast from Rhode Island.

Ron Darling is an excellent analyst, but you would think they could find an exellent analyst WHO WASN'T A FUCKING MET!

Seriously, we got kicked in the balls by this guy and now we're supposed to invite him into our home every fucking night?

It was almost 30 years and three championships ago. And Darling didn't keep Buckner at first. Nor did he bring in Stanley.

Let it go.

Do you like Eckersley? The guy did a shit-ton more to prevent the Red Sox from reaching a World Series with Oakland than help them get there with Boston, which was never. And who did we get for Eck in the 1984 trade with the Cubs?

Not to mention, Ron Darling took the loss in Game 1 and put the Mets in a 3-0 hole early in Game 7. He's about the last guy I think of in terms of 1986 villains.

1986 was the first year I watched baseball. Also, the teams Eck faced, got swept. They didn't even have a real chance of appearing in the World Series.

It's a pretty big difference.

They can't do two things at once?

Actually...you're probably right.

Ron Darling is fantastic.
I echo this sentiment.  The guy knows his stuff and stays focused on the game, offering terrific insights. An O'Brien/Darling duo would be the best in baseball.  However, it looks like it's not to be.

I didn't hear him say anything about this but I did hear Zolak say he is friends with Darling and played lots of golf with him.
I can't imagine this is too helpful to their friendship.

If Sutcliffe is the color guy next year I would only watch the other team's feed for every Sox game.  There's no way I could tolerate him almost every night for 6 months.

Why is everybody worried about Sutcliffe? NESN is obviously run by a bunch of smart people that would never make a hiring and/or firing mistake.

Isn't Tim McCarver available too? listening geniuses at NESN?
I would almost rather Tim McCarver, if only for the fact that his omnipresence in Red Sox broadcasts might force Ken Tremendous to resurrect FJM to vent his McCarver frustration.

Guys! Tim McCarver was on the 1967 St. Louis Cardinals teams that beat the Red Sox. Even though I know you're joking, why would you even think of bringing his name up?

Same thing with Joe Morgan in 1975.

I don't know what to believe!

BTW, I had a theory that McCarver was bitter about being cut from the 75 Sox and ultimately not going to another World Series (he played for another FIVE years!) which is why he seemed to hold a grudge against them whenever he called their games.

That is a very strong theory.

Let's go with it. File it next to the Ice Cube/porcelain doll theory.

Ice Cube confirmed that in an interview. Didn't you hear? Tweet it on Twitter.

I tweet him about once a month asking for confirmation about this, he always ignores me. Asshole will talk to a Coors Light can but not me.

You want my opinions to be about someone else? I mean, it's one thing if we're talking opinons on public policy, but we're talking about my opinions on the red sox TV color analyst.

Did it make you made when Kevin Mitchell, Rick Aguilera, Danny Heep or Dave Magadan wore a Red Sox uniform?

I wasn't particularly pleased with any of them, but I choked down Rick Aguilera okay. I'm sure I'll muddle through.

Did he cite the potential disenchantment of a Red Sox message board member as the deciding factor?

That'll teach you to underestimate the power of this space station.

Also, I would infinitely prefer Darling to Sutcliffe, Boone, Morgan, or McCarver.

The DC market lost two guys who are treasures. Darling one with the Nats; Jon Miller long ago lost due to Angelos' stupidity.

Orsillo, like those two, will be better off. He has more than landed on his feet.
