Last night's comeback was fun, but it's obvious that this team is in a state of transition.  5 rookies in the starting lineup last night + De La Rosa, and it looks like Peavy will be the next one out the door followed by who the hell knows?

Ortiz has been here over a decade, Pedroia and Lester have been here nearly that long.  Who is going to be the next long time home town hero?

7 players under 26 years old on the team, will one of them be the guy?

Pick the pitcher and position player/DH on the current roster you think will be here the longest time from now.  I included the 25 man roster, the DL, and Brandon Workman since he's on the Pawtucket shuttle (and because I forgot him yesterday).

And ignore the first few replies below, as I recycled this from the "something shiny" thread.;

We'll check back in this thread in 10 or 11 years and see who was right.

Sox said last night that Workman is getting sent down.

The wrong side of the bridge....
I voted for Pedroia not so much because I really think he'll be here the longest, but because it seems fairly certain he'll be here in 2021, barring career-ending injury. It's likely that one or more of the kids will outlast him, but who knows which.

I voted Buchholz because he's currently signed for the longest term, but I really hope the answer is Lester and/or RDLR.

Chose Bogaerts because he's a pretty damn sure bet to be a good player, current struggles aside.  He's the only one I'd bet on outlasting Pedroia.

Imo the Boras factor may tilt this to Pedey's favor.

I went Lester/Pedey      (Lester, heart over head)

Next choices: RDLR/X

I must say the Tazawa votes surprise me.  And I'm glad I included Workman!

Tazawa and Workman seem like the best bets on the list of hurlers. Rubby seems at higher risk of either departing via trade or re-injuring himself.

I'm surprised I voted for Tazawa, actually. It's hedging my bet. What if Lester doesn't re-sign? What if Lackey is traded for terrific prospects? What if Workman is part of a huge deal for a slugger? Taz is our guy. Maybe he'll be the closer if Uehara is traded. It just seems like he'll be around.

Purely looking at it from a youth and viability standpoint it doesn't make sense to pick Lester or Pedey unless you think the Sox will overhaul EVERYONE over the next five or six years. The amount of work and faith put into X and JBJ made it hard choice but I went with X because of his offensive upside.

Pitchers have more variance but I went RDLR because maybe if we will it he really will be the next Pedro.
