Betts 10D JDM X Mitch JBJ Kinsler Raffy C. Is a fucking loaded liineup if JBJ keeps looking good.

And who goes when Devers is healthy now? Does this mean he’s out until September 1 when rosters expand?
DD says they will go down to 12 pitchers when Devers comes back. Also, he said if Pedroia comes back it's going to be late in the season (at best).

I wonder if one of Nunez or Holt (presumably Nunez) gets traded tomorrow? You'd think Nunez would have little value though to shed salary.

we still added on 1.8 mil to our luxury tax calc, I don't see how that makes the difference

DD says they go to a 12 man pitching staff when Devers comes off of the DL.

Big question is what happens when Vaz is back.

With Pearce at PH. They're prepping for October. Just need one or two bullpen arms.
Props to JH for going over the tax to get this done.

Unfortunately looks like Pedey is done for this year.

The realization that Kinsler’s been a 2.5 WAR player despite struggling half the season thus far, and has been recently hot has me much more excited about this trade than I was initially.

Wonder how much cash is coming back. The CBT threshold remains a mystery.

Angels paying $1.8 million of the rest of the money owed to Kinsler.

The amount of money is odd. You would think if the Sox were going to go over anyhow, they would have assumed his whole salary and given up less. Maybe they think they can find a way to get back under.

Love this trade. Kinsler is a huge upgrade over Nunez in all aspects as has been shown in the previous page. Hopefully Devers comes back soon and Nunez can head to the bench where he belongs. This lineup is deep.

Nunez has been playing better but I am all for this move based on his numbers over the last 2 months. Moving to a hitters park/hitters division should help

For those of you who know the PawSox better than I do, was Buttrey likely to be more than a fungible relief arm? Granted, he's 25, but I look at the stats and see an impressive 2.25 ERA and 64 strikeouts in 44 innings.

Buttrey is a real RP prospect. He should be good.

Jerez is an interesting ex-OF turned SP who walks too many people to really be a real prospect. But the Angels can use him because they've had a lot of trouble keeping pitchers healthy — six pitchers on the 60 day DL, including three starters — and need bodies. So a long shot to be more than Just a Guy.

DD has added Pearce, Eovaldi and Kinsler to the top team in MLB. This guy doesn't mess around. I love it.

Getting $1.8 million thrown in from the Angels makes me think that somehow the Sox are or can still be under $237 million, despite the report that they're already over.

Dombrowski doesn't strike me as the type of guy who would go over the threshold by a million or two. If he was going to pass it, he would blow by it.

Clearly the Sox feel that Lin's AAA numbers won't translate.
More like Jason Giambi v David Ortiz-2013. Who knows?
Pearce, Eovaldi, Kinsler are all low cost insurance policies. Kinsler has just been added in the mix now as an option with Lin et al. It also allows Holt and Nunez to take the majority of innings at 3B until Devers is back.

It also signals that Pedroia’s 2018 is lost.

That said, This a .700 team, welcome aboard, Ian. I remember you being a real pain in the ass when you were an opponent. How about doing that ASAP as a team mate. Hi

This is discouraging!

The newest member of the Red Sox, Ian Kinsler, has a .199 career BA vs the Yankees. Among players with at least 300 AB, only Bubba Phillips (.195) has a worse BA vs the Yankees in the Live Ball Era (since 1920)
941 OPS vs Happ at least; 745 OPS vs Sabathia - not bad considering how they both have pitched great against us.

717 OPS vs Severino
