Ace left-hander David Price agreed to a one-year deal for $14 million on Thursday, avoiding arbitration with the Tampa Bay Rays.
Price's $14 million salary in 2014 will be the highest single-season amount in franchise history. He earned $10,112,500 in 2013.
Price, who has one more season of arbitration eligibility in 2015, is scheduled to become a free agent after next season. He has been the subject of trade speculation this offseason

Given the Kershaw comp, I'm bullish on a rising P/E.

Hamels got $15 million in 2012 in his second arb year, then signed his deal (which is about $22M AAV I think), and Price got $14M this year.  So depending on how well he pitches this year, he is setting himself up for a 6-7 year deal for at least $21M AAV, and I think his ceiling is perhaps $25M AAV with all this new TV revenue and the paucity of "elite" arms...
