Final major of the year.

Spieth is going for the slam. Quail Hollow is Rory's turf, 2 wins and a playoff loss. Fowler has also won here before, handing Rory that playoff loss. Rain is in the forecast, so seems the course will play long and soft which should favor Rory and the other bombers. Hideki just chewed up Firestone so no reason to think he wouldn't be in the mix.

Hoping for a fun weekend of golf.

Man, it's crazy how you wait ALL winter for the Masters, then you wait 2.5 months for the U.S. Open, then a little over a month later and the major season is over. It feels like we just played the Open Championship (because we did).

I guess moving the PGA to May will change that, but it's still weird to me.

I really hope that noise on Koepka's drive was the ball hitting something plastic and not someone's head. That sounded awful.

Kinda looked like the guy they showed on the ground had a bloody hat but it was hard to tell.

Edit: Yep, nailed a marshal in the dome. Guy is all smiles at least.

This one hurts. I'm layed up recovering from foot surgery and I've got a gang of guys in that area. Houses on the course, tickets, corporate tents....this was a perfect major to attend (for me). Anyway, I'm always jacked to follow a major on TV. Course looks better than it did a few years ago, lol. Bring it on.

It's crazy how out-of-sync Dustin Johnson has been since his slip / back injury at the Masters. Pre-Masters he won 4 times and post injury...no wins and nothing special. Perhaps he turns it around this week...but I didn't pick him Draft Kings. Note the PGA is live streaming on pga.com.

Spieth shoots a +1 72. T26 and 5 back of the current lead with the afternoon wave just getting started.

The tracking shit on the range is really fucking cool. Just showed Kisner hit 5 drives keeping the tracks up on all of them. They all ended up on basically the exact line, ending up within a few yards of each other.

Not looking like Rory's week. 4 bogey's on the front today (his back 9) and he's a shot outside the cut at +4 with 3 holes to play. The cut will probably move to +4 though.

Quail is playing harder than I thought it would. Feels almost US Open-ish.

Kisner -8, after an eagle. He drained an extremely long putt from off the green, although it was uphill. He'll blow it tomorrow.

What the hell happened to Bubba Watson? He's going to miss his 3rd cut out of the 4 majors, and has dropped outside of the Top 50 in the world rankings. Age? He is 38.

He's never been a good putter and his ball striking has cratered.

GIR

2013: 5th
2014: 24th
2015: 19th
2016: 18th
2017: 175th

Strokes gained putting:

2013: 119th
2014: 109th
2015: 53rd
2016: 165th
2017: 150th

So this year he's missing greens and can't make a putt. His driving and iron play was enough to get by in previous seasons even with poor putting but now the iron play has abandoned him. He's also 131st in driving accuracy. Not gonna score well if you can't hit fairways and greens.

Hideki in close again for another birdie.

Good leaderboard. I'm liking the course more than I remembered from the Wells Fargo.

Time for the back to stiffen up on him during the delay!
Don't worry, he'll make sure to hold a press conference to keep us updated on every little owie he gets.

I still gotta root for him though! #GoDayGo

So how many private club members are going to have discussions with their membership that their shirts are ok even though they don't have "collars".

Seems like more of them on the course this weekend. I can see some of the more so called traditional clubs saying nay nay.

Tiger was wearing those 10 years ago, so I'm guessing most boards have already been through the dress code issue. But there are definitely more today.

Went the lack of excitement around the PGA Championship? The British had 123 posts before the start of the third round, and we sit at just 38 halfway through round 3.

Dare I say, people are missing Spieth in contention?

British Open has an edge because it is on TV for all of us to sit and watch potentially an hour or three before we go off to work in the morning. Honestly I didn't see a shot from the first 2 rounds and have no idea if they were even televised. I am sure they were but I never found it.

Weather also delayed the cut until this morning. They are playing groups of three for the third round.

Nobody making much of a move today. Course playing tough.

I think CBS is the worst of the regular golf broadcasts, but kudos to them for the pro tracer on every shot this week.

Carnage at 12 as the leaders back up.

Kinda liking Rickie here. Playing steady, knows how to come from behind, has won at this course before. If he can get a birdie coming in and survive the green mile, he'll be right there.
