Fingers crossed for a pair of (conditional) 1st rounders!!!

Would love to see this flurry of trade activity result in the Pats trading a 4th or 5th for Cleveland's Joe Thomas.

A fifth? That's some voodoo math by Belichick there. Draft a guy in the sixth, stash him on IR for a year, play him in four games with zero catches, trade him for a fifth.

Will they pick up another tight end? I don't believe Derby is much of a blocker and if you are a back up TE on the Pats that is job one. It certainly takes stones to trade with a team you are yet to play.

Fleming has been effective at times in that 6th OL / blocking TE role. He offers zero in the passing game, obviously, but they have two good receiving TEs. They can also line up Develin at TE or H-back.

They traded him for a 5th. He's not good enough that playing him in the future should even come into the conversation.

One offset to the massive talent upgrade in Bennett is that he is a UFA after this season, while Derby is signed thru 2018 at a fraction of what Bennett is making this season.
I had read that next years draft is very deep at Tight End.
