I doubt it. Giving him the extended mini-BYE after the Thanksgiving (Thursday) game would ensure there are no lingering issues. He probably misses the next four games, unless they lose the PHI, NYG and MIN games and desperately need to rush him back.
Definitely possible. To be clear, at this point all I'm reading is speculation. I haven't even seen confirmation that he has a clavicle fracture.

Reports coming out to confirm Arian Foster's season-ending back surgery. What a shitty year for the Texans.

Very. But if there were ever going to be a year when they could stomach losing Foster, it's this year - they aren't going anywhere anyway, obviously.

Out of curiosity, does not get a letter for his varsity jacket for this year?

Is Foster even better than Tate going forward? Backs have short shelf lives.

Anything look wrong with Manning or just bumps and bruises?

Peyton is supposedly having an MRI tomorrow but they're not saying what for.

I heard knee and ankle.  I'm sure he'll play next week, but if he doesn't it'll be the 5th (I think) game this season that the Chiefs will play a team without their starting QB.

Knee and ankle?  Did you see the way his giant head bounced off the turf?  Hopefully the turf is ok.

I have to repent....

Dear Sean Berry, I'm so sorry.  I mocked you for cheering for Patriot injuries.  I'm a hypocrite and a phony tonight and from here forward.

I am evil and disgusting....I am sorry.  I repent to Jesus.

Now....

Dear Jesus or Tiny Jesus or Baby Jesus,

Let Peyton be hurt.  Like, really fucking hurt.

Thank you.

The MRI on the turf came back positive. Out 4-6 weeks with torn sod. Manning should be fined for giant helmet to turf contact.

The Chiefs may not be as good as their record, but they do get after the QB and Manning is hobbling...

That's not getting better anytime this year.

It could get worse...

I love your face.

I'm going to say something we all know.

Manning is slow as dogshit, but very good at manipulating the pocket.

This ankle sprain could be very good news for Patriot fans.

You would think it would also hurt his accuracy and throwing strength.

I dunno.

I feel the same way about Manning as I did about the Yankees from 1999 through 2011 or so:  they may look down, they may look out.  They may look like they have no plausible way to be competitive, much less good.

Yet they JUST. WON'T. GO. AWAY. AND. DIE.

I'll believe it only when I see it.

Without a doubt.  His arm has looked like crap to me the past two years but somehow it doesn't stop him from throwing for about 326 yards and 4 touchdowns every game.

Also, Manning was 25/36 for 330 yards and 4 TDs (0 INT) last weekend.  I think he's managing he's ankle pain pretty well, although he's old as dirt and eventually has to show the effects of little things like this, right?

I'm still of the opinion that if he's playing he'll be very, very good.

He took a hit low with just under two minutes remaining in the last game (and only took a few knees after it). He was managing his ankle pain pretty well, but it seems like he either reinjured it, or injured it worse (I'm no DRS) on that play. So depending on the severity of that hit, anything before that is pretty moot.

Hopefully the KC defense can get to him and rough him up
I'd like to see someone (anyone!) defend the quick screen to Thomas for a change. He's had a least three long catch-and-runs, and Manning is getting some serious YAC benefits. It'll be interesting to see where the Chefs play their safeties. I bet they're going to keep creeping up each week as it gets colder.

Also, talk radio out here in Denver is just hilarious. The morning guy spent five minutes berating the Bronco receivers for complaining during the play while in the next breathe wondering why Manning doesn't bitch more about roughing the passer calls a la Brady.

Well that blows. Dennard was sorely missed against Carolina.

I'm hoping for the best this Sunday but really all I want over the next six weeks is the #2 seed, an offense that continues to refine its timing and execution, no more major injuries, and Dennard and Talib to get fully healthy.

Speaking of which, is Talib going to go Sunday?  He couldnt finish the game.  Otherwise, think you have to move McCourty back to corner, play tons of zone, take your chances with a Wilson/Harmon combo, and hope to get a turnover somewhere to hold Denver under 40 and give yourself a chance.

Not funny, but funny

The Denver Post reports Wes Welker was initially allowed to play through his concussion in Sunday's win because the Broncos believed he had a neck injury, and didn't notice any signs of a possible concussion until a series later.

Not a good look for player safety when a dude sitting on his couch (assumedly) half drunk instacalls the concussion.

Or that somehow a neck injury is totally fine to play with.

"oh it's not a concussion?  Just a broken neck?  Go get 'em Welker!"

Ha, no, I meant that its not funny that Welker was playing concussed, but funny that no one could spot in when DRS was 100% sure it was a concussion.

FWIW, my theory on Welker's "durability" (and his periodic drop problem) is that he is exceptionally skilled at hiding concussions.

Or they spotted it and didn't give a fuck because it was a big divisional game.

I mean, would you really be surprised?

I was only like 34% drunk.

Ok, maybe 37%.

The Dennard thing is perplexing to me.  He hurt it at the end of the Steelers game, was apparently practicing, hurt it on Friday and was essentially immediately ruled out.

If figure he either re-injured something that does not require surgery but does need more rest (patellar subluxation, MCL sprain), or he has an entirely new injury (maybe tore his meniscus in practice and had it scoped already).

Either way, I doubt he'll be back until mid-December or so.

As for Talib... who the hell knows.  Being out for a month and then not even being able to finish a game when he was so clearly needed does not speak well for whatever is going on with his hip.  I think we've reached the point where even if he starts, there's no way you can count on him being available for the entire game, and that puts our secondary in a VERY tenuous position.

Do other teams have as many defensive back injuries per year as the Patriots and we just don't notice it?  Or do the Patriots legitimately out index the league in Corner and Safety injuries every season?  Does anyone know where to find some that information?

It feels like they have a year after year their DBs are just decimated by injury.  I'd love to see some data that either says this is normal or that the Pats are an outlier here.

Football outsiders has done some stuff.
We weren't in the top of bottom 8 by defensive back injuries in 2012 by their metric.
http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stat-analysis/2013/2012-adjusted-games-lost-team-units
We were second most injured in the secondary in 2011
http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stat-analysis/2012/2011-adjusted-games-lost-team-units

If we lose say five games each by Talib, Gregory and Dennard but nothing else that probably puts us in the bottom 8 again but probably not among the most injured two or three.

Defensive backs get hurt quite a bit--they're small but they face a ton of contact, they're often smaller than the guys they're tackling, and they need to be able to run a ton so you can't just playthrough a kind of fucked up knee like a guard can,

The universe loves you. Teams get crushed with injuries from time to time, the Pats have just been able to stay competitive in those years.  Even really good franchises tend to go 8-8 or worse and miss the playoffs when they have major runs of injuries.

Brady, BB and a weak AFC east all help a lot.
