More from Reiss re: Hogan

It leads to more questions: Did he hurt it again? Did he find he couldn't play through the pain? Next time we talk to him hopefully there is some insight to pass along.

Pretty much what it sounds like. The only specifics I can recall have been where Belichick specifically mentions scout team work.
The practice players of the week are often recognized for their work in simulating an opponent's playbook in practice. So, when Brian Hoyer (among many others) was given the award after week 15, it was likely due to him playing the part of Tyrod Taylor in practice that week.

I seem to remember Belichick praising one of the back-up quarterbacks for how good of a job he did in simulating Peyton Manning in practice. This would have been years and years ago after the Patriots beat the Colts in the playoffs
I recalled this being Ryan Mallet but can only find this article.
Thanks guys.

It will be amazing to see what a difference having Hogan back makes on the offense. Almost forget how valuable he is given how long he has been out.

It was Huard; he got a game ball for impersonating Manning leading up to the 2003 AFCCG. http://www.weei.com/articles/column/scout’s-honor-former-patriots-backup-qb-damon-huard-mastered-art-imitating-peyton
Indeed. One of the classic moments of the ‘03 run and that era of Pats teams, and among my favorite games in the Brady/Belichick era. Forced Manning into 4 picks (3 by Ty Law), held Marvin Harrison to 19 yards on 3 catches and a fumble.

There’s great video of Huard imitating Manning during practice in the 2003 “America’s Game” — it’s here around the 32 minute mark:

Always hate it when this gets bumped. Glass more often than not has a gaping hole.

So, today, perfect attendance at practice. For the first time since Sept 29 —

Yes and no. I mean yes, there were 53 guys practicing (maybe more with the practice squad) but it's not THE 53, with Hightower and Ebner and the guys you'd most want out there.

What is unclear about Edelman?
Nothing. There is a period after his name. He is out for the year as we all know.
It's Mitchell who is unclear. Another poster either up thread or in the Titans build up thread quoted a media tweet which had the NFL rule - the Pats have to activate him before Friday 4pm for Saturday playoff game.

As Lose said, the team is not at full strength, despite what PFT reported.

True. But nobody sensible would read that to include guys plainly out for the year.

And it’s relative. If any team remaining in the playoffs has all of their guys, I’m all ears.

We have nothing remotely comparable to what the 1 seed in the other conference is going through.

I agree with you from a qualitative standpoint, but there is actually a graph out there which I have seen on BBtL somewhere this year (but obviously can't find now) that shows team wins vs games lost to injury with bubble size as quality of players lost. Also behind a paywall at https://www.mangameslost.com/

From the chart, NEW is "beating" PHI in both total games lost to injury and quality of players lost (as are JAX and NOR), but I agree it is better to have an MVP QB and have lost an All Pro OLB and the QB's favorite WR vs the alternative.

To be honest PIT looks the least affected by injury this year, Shazier's tragic injury notwithstanding.

Reiss: No. 4 CB/core special teamer Jonathan Jones wasn't present at Patriots practice after sustaining what appeared to be a significant injury in Saturday's win, while WR Bernard Reedy – who spent time on the practice squad and was active for two games in the regular season – was back with the team. Also, OT LaAdrian Waddle, who started at right tackle on Saturday but left with a knee injury, only rode the stationary bike and did not work on the field. Finally, WR Malcolm Mitchell was not present, as it appears he will revert to IR.

Not that it matters at this point but Reiss tweeted this morning about Mitchell and he made it sound like it was more of a roster space and flexibility situation rather than him still being injured.

You'd think if he was healthy he'd add more than Dorsett, but maybe not.

Here
Hogan got rolled up pretty brutally on the Lewis run to end the game and stayed down for a bit. Has anyone seen or heard anything about a potential injury as a result?

Well, it's unlikely that Burkhead was playing in the kicking game late if he had a broken rib -- which was my concern -- so that's a good sign.

He was interviewed on the field after the game and looked pretty happy.

Yeah, I just saw another angle, and fortunately both his feet were off the ground so his legs didn’t get caught under the mass of bodies. He should be fine.

Pats official injury report lists Gronk as DNP - concussion.

Also:
Wise - DNP Concussion (this is news to me)
Malcom Brown LP Foot
Gillislee LP Knee
Waddle LP Knee

Brown is a new addition as well. Interesting that Waddle was ankle during the regular season, but knee during the playoffs.

Giardi speculates on Wise concussion

Wow. With that and the Gronk hit, plus the Jack shenanigans in the end zone, it's amazing there isn't a bit more in the media about the Jaguars playing a bit dirty. "Young team; plays with emotion" just doesn't really cut it.

Overwhelming anti-Pats sentiment might have masked this for the public / mediots, but I wonder what BB was yelling at the refs after the Pats first touchdown, and I wonder if somehow quietly this hasn't been brought up on Park Ave.
