We have 10 now
Brady and Gronk aren't going to hit their incentives at this rate.
I think we all hate MFY fans in general. It’s what binds us all together.
Could be. When it comes, it’s shockingly sudden.
It’s been forever for us, but the last time we had a tear down a lot of people thought the Grier/Carroll teams were not THAT bad. Wrong — Bill burned everything to the ground.
If this is it. If this is a team with 2 HOFs, a few good solid players and a boatload of JAGs, it’s not clear to me that Bill is the guy for the tear down.
OK, let me know which team has balanced roster construction and salary cap considerations better in the history of the NFL. I'll wait...
Best run of the night. Good thing they waited until two minutes left in the game to run their best running back.
The defense is terrible but from watching the games today there are maybe 5 good defenses in the league. The rest are just varying levels of suck from week to week. The offensive gameplan and execution tonight was a joke. No sense of urgency or tempo. McDaniels had a great week 1 but the last two have been a disaster.
Also, the fact that they only have 3 WRs available to dress is ridiculous, especially when Patterson is barely a WR.
Where's the hurry up????
They reallly just mailed it in tonight. Purolator Courier probably going to be calling tomorrow trying to hammer out an endorsement deal.
That was the hurry and give up.
Pathetic. On to Miami, and a must win pretty much.
I’m not sure I even considered play calling as a problem at any particular point. They were so bad tonight that I don’t think it mattered. Not often I feel that way watching a game.
I think the fact that the Lions weren’t really ever pushed in the game is the most disconcerting thing.
Ditto. We have been living a dream football fans’ life since 2001, if it’s over it doesn’t change how freaking lucky we’ve been as Pats fans.
Bill looks like he’s ready to kill a hobo.
That game wasn't even as close as the score would indicate
Things look pretty bleak right now. Maybe it is the end, I don’t know.
But someday it is going to end. We can either accept that gracefully, or shit all over the two main guys who have provided us with 18 unprecedented years of greatness.
Just seems like any team can exploit our slow LBs - not sure how that gets fixed
I’m a sad clown at using James White in the throwaway last drive but only sparingly while the game actually mattered.
Can we count it as 3 guys and shit on one of them? (Brady, BB the coach, BB the GM)
This is not a good football team
Good fucking Christ on a cracker that was bad
He is on the PS...
Does that mean we can sign Amendola?
I've been wrong a bunch of times but I think Miami is going to kill them. The Lions suck and they barely competed for christ sakes.
Yeah, it doesn’t short of the unknown younger guys really stepping up and/or Hightower regaining three steps. Maybe there’s another Casillas-type acquisition out there.
I’m not worried yet. But if Miami whips them at home....
Lombardi has been talking about how slow the Pats are and thought the Lions were a bad match up. He didnt have the Lions D shutting the Pats down though.
I don’t want it to be over, mainly because I don’t want our last hurrah to be an L in the Super Bowl that popped one of the most infamous cherries in North American sports but fuck man, if that’s not being spoiled then what is? They’ve played in 8 of the goddamn things, winning 5 of them. They haven’t missed the Conference Title game since 2010.
Anything more at this point is the peak of gluttony and while I want this run to end on a happier note, I know that in time I’ll come to say that I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Words cannot describe how greatful I am and I could never look back on the TFB/BB Era with anything other than the utmost amount of reverence. I don’t think this is the end but if it is, I might just be okay with that.
Pittsburgh, Bell not withstanding, Ravens.
For those shouting down people that are mad at this start: folks are certainly allowed to be disappointed in this team’s effort They’ve stunk up the joint 2 straight weeks in ways we rarely see. They have been looked times uncompetitive and unprepared for what the opponent has been doing. But saying B.B. is terrible, etc. is moronic.
However, mentioning the past successes in shouting down people makes no sense. We all know how great this era has been and how great it is. But what past Patriots teams have done means nothing to the success of the 2018 team. There are real holes on this team that are bigger and more of than in years past. That’s like a Yankee fan using the Ringzz argument if their team is struggling.
Pats are slow on both sides of the ball and the play calling doesn't seem to be helping. Everything is off. Not only losing to Detroit but not even competing. This feels worse than the KC loss which is a game that just got out of hand. They can't even force a team to punt right now.
I think if this team is 8-8 it’s a miracle
On the season, the Patriots are 10/35 (29%) on third down. Tonight, 2/9. Pitiful.
Opponents are 19/39 (49%). And that includes HOU going 2/11 in week 1.
Last 2 weeks, opponents are 17/28 (61%) on third down.
Defense can't get off the field.
Not the 2 teams I would pick.
Neither of these teams are particularly good at managing the cap. The Ravens have had problems over the past five years because of the deal they gave Flacco, and Pittsburgh is in a similar boat.
WTF the coach doesn't want to look in the past why the fuck should we when evaluating the current talent and effort?
I still have confidence the offense will get back on track (we need to sign a RB, Rex can’t stay healthy).
I just don’t see how you can fix this defense. I think it’s going to be a long year
Picking those two teams kills his argument.
The shortage of good young talent is catching up with them. They either make bad picks in the first two rounds or the picks end up on IR. Lots of swings and misses.
BB after the game is in total shutdown mode: We gotta coach and play better. They clearly outplayed us and outcoached us today.
Still one of my favorite BB traits: accountability.
You could convince me that every position on the defense could be upgraded. (Maybe not Gilmore)
Ya that Flacco contract was awesome...
And I believe the Pats have bested the Steelers mostly over the past 18 years.
But I guess the Steelers 2 SB and the Ravens 1 trumps the Pats 5 ?
last 5+ years the ravens have a combined record of 42-41 and 1 playoff win, if that's supposed to be successful balanced roster construction they're doing it wrong
That is a horrifying disparity, and the one win does not impress much given the state of Houston right now.
Must game for Detroit — I get that.
Patricia has excellent insight into how bad this defense is — I get that too.
But other teams will gain the same insight. Just watch the damn games.
At least the AFC kinda sucks. Pit and KC defenses are as bad as ours and Jax scored 6 points today.
BB: We need to do everything better, all 3 phases of the game.
It should be remembered how slow, old and unathletic the Pats looked against the Falcons in SB 51, and they haven't gotten younger faster or more athletic since then.
They just haven't.
Father Time always wins.
