There's 2004, and there's any other season. I mean, I loved 2007 and 2013 was awesome, cause it was so unexpected, and this year has been great, because this is a contender for an all time great and 86 was great until it wasn't... I guess I'd pick this team

Yes and that Tigers rotation.........Verlander, Scherzer, Porcello, Sanchez. I forget, were the Sox slight underdogs? I know we won more games but that rotation??? Game 2 Leyland blew it. Sox had no business winning that game. But.....they pitched to Papi. LOL.
Doug Fister was their other starter. 14-9. 3.67 E.R.A.

Remember if you can. Try not to influence
Me too. It was so hard to win the division. I followed the team by phoning the sports line at the local radio station to get the scores. I remember how on the days Clemens pitched they almost always won.

If you were not around to just watch the Youtube clip or even know the sequence of the 86 loss to the Mets will seem atrociously painful. But, that 86 team had somehow escaped the ALCS and if you think announcers blew sun up Jeter or Bregman's ass, Reggie Jackson was called "Mr. October!!!" every single time he came to the plate, was on deck, in the hole, the camera found him scratching his sack in the dugout. Plus Reggie was an insufferable ass (imagine Ned Flanders with Mohammed Ali;s cockiness), and an ex Yankee so it was awesome to watch him flail away and get beaten.

Donnie Moore's suicide, and Buckner's error have spoiled it, but at the time it was a fantastic ALCS.
Yes I do remember how all they talked about was Reggie. He was hugging Gene Mauch in the dugout before Hendu's HR, lol. Like I said we try not to let what happened in the WS influence it. And Remember Buckner's error was only part of it. Stanley's/Gedman's passed ball, Schiraldis 3 straight hits, Clemens leaving with the blister???? Jim Rice running from 2nd and out by a mile.

The reason I didn't include 67 was because I wanted to include a LCS where a loss can be just as Heartbreaking as a WS loss. And when they were best of 5 through 84 they were tougher. More pressure packed. 1967 pennant is a no brainer. They were so bad in the 60's so they called it the Impossible Dream. Yes I still have the album. I was 10. Not to switch sports but when the Pats finally won the AFC title in 85 and beat the Dolphins, that was like a Super Bowl win for me almost. We knew The Bears were superior, nobody was beating them. That was our Super Bowl and it happened in Miami where we won 1 or 2 games there ever!!!!

'75 for me. I was 11 that summer. (Only 3 in summer of '67). I literally wore out two copies of "Super Sox '75". Wore them out. That was my first pennant. I mean every pennant is awesome, but there is nothing like the first. Just like love. Second one is this year. Watching this very special team this year since spring training to now has been nothing less than breathtaking and an incredible journey.

For me, it’s 2013.

Game 1 of the ALCS was brutal, and I was at Game 2. As the game wore on, and Sox batter after Sox batter went down on strikes, and Clay slowly began to fall apart, a blanket of sad acceptance seemed to fall over Fenway.

Until the bases were loaded for Ortiz, and everyone woke the fuck up. No one felt there was a chance he’d deliver there. They knew it was a foregone conclusion. Ortiz was going to tie that fucking game up. And then he did. I hugged a total stranger in the euphoric aftermath. An inning later, Salty walked it off.

Napoli’s HR off Verlander in game 3, backed Lackey’s heroic performance. A nailbiter in game 5. And then Shane Victorino’s magical grand slam to seal it in game 6. Koji. All around incredible series, lots of great moments.

2004 is funny for me. Obviously, it’s the most satisfying... but it’s a series best enjoyed in hindsight. I had fun when Ortiz hit those two walkoffs. And once Damon cleared the bases against Vazquez, it was all smooth sailing. But in the moment? Games 1-3, and most of games 4 and 5 sucked... and the parts that didn’t suck were just intense, with an overwhelming sense of dread lingering. It’s easy to look back and say how awesome that series was, but in real time? Jesus Christ.

For me it was 1986. When Hendu came to the plate I was dreaming of a home run. He had hit 15 that year, but only one in 51 ABs for the Sox. Him hitting one after barely getting getting a piece of a 2 strike pitch was my most ecstatic moment in decades of watching sports. I was alone in a hotel room and was jumping and shouting for about five minutes.

Unfortunately, the WP/PB in game 6 of the WS was the my most devastating moment. Experiencing both plays within a 2 week period was too much and I couldn't even watch the 7th game.

A poster above mentioned the Moore suicide. It was sad, of course, but he had a lot of problems besides just giving up that homer.

1975, hands down!!! For several reasons. Up to that point I was an Oriole fan (Palmer, McNally, Dobson and Cuellar) and then really not knowing the Red Sox that much only briefly in '67, I fell in love with that team and I've been a "faithful" fan ever since. Yaz, Fisk, Jim Rice, Dewey Evans, Freddie Lynn.,Burleson, Rico, Spaceman Lee and El Tiante. wow what players !!.
