The board apparently like him, but the issue with Malky, as I understand it, is that he plays the same defensive style that Hughton plays. The team can't score despite bringing in Hooper and Van Wolfswinkel, so another defensive coach isn't really going to help all that much.

Now, if the problem with the club is conditioning or setup of the team, then maybe Malky would make a difference. But I'm not sure that's the real problem. Holt has stated that he left the club because he felt that Hughton's tactics were too defensive and were going to hurt the team (of course, Holt also got way out of shape and has scored only twice in the Championship this year, so the problem could well have been him).

We need points in the worst way and if they continue tos cuffle they can't afford to wait to sack Hughton. Really nice man, very well-liked, but the club is struggling terribly despite bringing in a lot of talent last summer. Staying up is crucial, David McNally has stated this repeatedly. If there's a danger of the drop then there's no question Hughton's gone.

I don't watch any EPL teams consistently, I watch games when time permits on a game by game basis. I do find that the comment about Mackay being too defensive interesting. In my mind, I thought he had the balance just right with Cardiff, good defensive organisation which is a prerequisite. Not too many managers survive by being too attack minded if they are a smaller club with limited finances. However, he also had a team willing to be very counter attacking and dangerous on the break.  They were certainly more attacking at home where you can take more liberties. I found their style of play exciting to watch without leaving the back door open in terms of defence.

As I said, I don't follow one specific team and my observations tend to be based in a vacuum in the context of one or two games. I watched in horror at some of AVB's games at Spurs where he continued to play a very high defensive line and never made any adjustments as games went on. i'm probably not the best person to comment since I don't watch the team on a weekly basis.

1 point out of the relegation zone. Hughton needs to go. Today. Not tomorrow, not next week. Today.

We can't score, we can't defend, we can't win. And we definitely cannot do down this year. Sack him and bring in someone else. Mackay would be fine. I don't care. Anyone to shake things up.

No credit for holding Man City to a draw?

Also, 1 point out relegation but 3 points from 10th place.

At this point I don't think Norwich have much to lose by firing him. I don't see much fight in the team and that mirrors what I see in Houghton. Stranger things have happened and they may avoid the drop but I'm not seeing it. 6 goals in the last 11 league games has relegation written all over it. The first goal yesterday was dire, Ruddy had a half hearted flap at a cross, that one was on him. My gut is telling me that any new manager is probably looking at getting promotion next season...that's how bad they look.

Yes, we held Man City to a draw. We also lost to fucking Cardiff and West Ham. We've scored 2 goals in our last 6 matches.

Hughton has made 63 subs this season. He's gotten 0 goals and 0 assists from them, because 90% of them have been in the 88th minute or later. He has no idea how to change the flow of a game positively. He pulled Redmond from the Cardiff game and immediately the attack dried up. Hoolahan has been banished for unknown reasons despite being one of the few creative players we have. Van Wolswinkel is having a terrible season.

McNally has been adamant that we cannot be relegated this year; they have tons of plans for redoing the ground and the training facilities and desperately need the EPL money. Hughton's job is to keep them up. It's appearing that he can't do it. He spent all that money last summer and none of it has helped.

Keep in mind our last 4 matches of the season: Liverpool, @ManU, @Chelsea, Arsenal. There's a very real chance we get ZERO points from those games. The situation is dire; we need wins now if we want any hope for staying up.

Fuck it, I'd love to have a pint with Hughton but he's got to get the sack. Bring in Malky for all I care, anyone's better than this.

West Ham is actually a pretty good side with Nolan back from suspension since now they can score a bit. Their defense was already quite good, leading the BPL in clean sheets.

The Canaries were the better team for the first 60 minutes, IMO. Did not see the end but Hughton's reaction to the goal defines 'jubilant'.

I've been away on vacation.

Hughton's gone. He had been warned that he needed to keep the club clear of the relegation zone but losing at home to.West Brom was the final straw. A tactical disaster from start to finish.

I think it's too little too late. They're probably going down.

No, I'd rather take Malkay. We're getting Neil Adams for now, the youth team coach. He did lead us to the FA Youth Cup last year, but things look grim.

Hughton spent 25 million last summer and got pretty much nothing from it.Hooper's promising, but Van Wolfswinkle's been a disaster.

You guys want Pardew?

Finding 100/1 odds that Hughton returns to Newcastle.

Pardew is probably next to get sacked. I kind of like Norwich, ever since John Bond was manager , Pardew on the other hand,  would give me a reason to hate them.

I dunno about anyone else, but I'd take Moyes to manage this club. A history of overachievement with Everton. despite limited resources is a point in his favor given Norwich's situation. His ManU time was a disaster but of course not remotely applicable to Norwich.

Of course he probably won't come over to us, he's likely got better offers to consider given we're undoubtedly going down. Still, I'd take him.

No SJH you don't want Moyes. You want a manager who understands the modern game and modern players, with a modern approach to training, who is flexible with his formations who makes players better. Moyes got a lot wrong at Man U, you want to be looking for a Rogers/Martinez type...those guys get it. Moyes doesn't get it. Palace play better football than Man U at the moment. Think about that.

My condolences to SJH, Delia, and the lot. Norwich seem like a great club and fan base, but it's back to clawing and grabbing with the rest of 'em in the Championship. As a Leeds fan though, I have to ask: Can we have our players back?

So far the frontrunners for the manager's job are Mackay, Zola, and incumbent Adams. Norwich plan to name a manager within the week.

My guess is that Mackay gets it.

God what a mess we're in. They spent 8.5 million on Van Wolfswinkel, which was a club record, and got only 1 goal from him and he didn't see the field yesterday. I'd certainly expect him, Ruddy, and Snodgrass to move on this summer at the very least. Ruddy and Snodgrass want and deserve top flight football, and both have aspirations of playing for their respective national teams, so I expect them to be gone.
