Bogaerts on bereavement list, article doesn't say who passed.

Marco Hernandez gets the call-up and will probably be the starting SS for the next 4 games.

Barnes is also on the bereavement list but should be back Sunday.
The rotation has also been switched for the 4 afternoon games in Detroit:

Friday at Detroit: RHP Steven Wright (13-6, 3.33 in 2016) vs. RHP Michael Fullmer (11-7, 3.06 in 2016), 1:10 p.m.

Saturday at Detroit: LHP Eduardo Rodriguez (3-7, 4.71 in 2016) vs. RHP Jordan Zimmerman (9-7, 4.87 in 2016), 1:10 p.m.

Sunday at Detroit: RHP Rick Porcello (1-0, 4.26) vs. LHP Daniel Norris (4-2, 3.38 in 2016), 1:10 p.m.

Monday at Detroit: LHP Chris Sale (0-0, 0.00) vs. RHP Justin Verlander (1-0, 2.84), 1:10 p.m., NESN, MLB Network.

Tuesday vs. Baltimore: Drew Pomeranz (11-12 3.32 in 2016) makes his season debut back at Fenway Park.

"Pomeranz is on the disabled list and had been scheduled to pitch on Sunday By pushing him back, the Sox can keep an extra reliever for two more games."

Sale vs. Verlander on a Monday afternoon!

Weather.com forecasting 23mph winds with gusts up to 40 at game time tomorrow, but it should be dry for Wright's start at least.

The way the Herald article was written (poorly) it made it sound like Xander was taking a day out of respect to Barnes and his grandmother. What a teammate!

Yes, but I doubt 40 MPH gusts are welcome.
Sounds like a recipe for a high variance day, 5 BB, 8K, 3H, ??R. I would be interested to see a study for the knuckler using wind speed and direction as variables, though it will be a while before I have the time to do it myself. Anyone know of such a thing being done in the past, before I go searching the BP/Fangraphs archives?

Anecdotal and going on my fallible recollection, Wakefield had a few very bad outings in high winds conditions. He couldn't throw strikes the ball was moving so much. But since Wright throws harder than Tim, maybe it won't be as much of a factor.
