That’s actually brutal for the NBA. The only saving grace for them is that the NFL games will be on Netflix instead of a regular network. But still. Ouch.

Those making the argument that some NFL games have been behind the paywall since the first ESPN games in 1987(also TNTs run of games in the 90’s) , so why are people complaining now, are missing the point. For the vast majority of that time, it was one paywall. Basic or expanded basic cable packages. Or eventually, alternative live tv streaming services like YouTube TV or Fubo. They have now expanded that to 3 additional streaming services, with who knows how many more to come. They are essentially saying screw you to the not insignificant number of fans who can’t afford to pay for that many subscriptions. Maybe the trend toward bundling might mitigate some of that cost, but many fans will still be frozen out of those games. It’s not changing, and like everything else they do, it is purely rooted in sucking every last penny out of their product. But it is a legitimate criticism of the league.
Bears are -4.5 favorites in the look ahead line.
A lot will change once the bullets start flying, but the Patriots are currently the dog in every one of their games.
The NFL has had Christmas day games every year since 2020. This isn't a new thing, but obviously the Wednesday games are very new. I don't think the NFL owes the NBA anything in this matter.
They’ve had them going back many more years, but only on Saturday/Sunday/Monday (with an occasional Friday) and not as many. The last two years there’s been SNF on Christmas Eve and tripleheaders on Christmas when it used to only be doubleheaders, and now they’re playing games on the least likely day of the week. I don’t mind it selfishly as someone who doesn’t care for the NBA and will take all the football I can get, but they’ve absolutely kicked it into high gear the last few years not to mention player safety issues.

Personally, I love and appreciate the NFL filling any and all time windows they can. Mornings, holidays, whatever. The more the better.

But not the worst Super Bowl odds in the AFC! That honor goes to the Titans (Pats are +12500, Titans are +15000, and for reference the Panthers are a cool +25000).
It's very hard to look at this schedule and identify a single game I'm confident they will win*. Still, with a defense as good (I expect) as the Pats, I can imagine a game or two where the defense scores a TD and/or gives the offense a few short fields and they pull out a close win. Trying to pick unproven QBs, maybe @ TEN, @ CHI, or vs IND?

Uh, anyway, oddly I have all of those, but that's a lot of money per subscriber to watch their product -- $75/mo for YTTV (or some other cable/streaming service), plus another, what, $50+/mo for ESPN+ (through my brother), Peacock, Prime, Netflix.

I paid for Dazn, which is the international version of Gamepass and it was worth it.

That's what I did with YouTube TV and I sound like a company spokesperson I love it so much. The ability to easily watch anything on my phone has meant I haven't missed basically any NBA/NHL/NFL game (on YTTV) that I've wanted to watch for a long time now. And the unlimited DVR alone is magical -- I have every episode of The Simpsons, Family Guy, Cheers, The Office, Schitt's Creek, Rick & Morty, SNL, Always Sunny, Seinfeld, Brooklyn Nine-Nine available on my phone anytime I want.
The only (massive) annoyance for me is the lack of NESN on YTTV, but the lady has TMobile so I get MLB TV for free and watch that way.
YouTubeTV for the season + one month of ESPN+ + two months of Peacock + one month of Netflix = what, $350? Last year's Prime games were available for free on twitch.tv, but call it $400 if you want that too.

I mean, it's significantly more than any other sport for far less games. Watching games on TV isn't some replacement for going to the games.
The NFL is the most popular sport (in the US) so it can get away with it, but it's definitely not an outstanding value for what you get... the ability to watch (some but not all games of) a sport on TV.
Right by comparison, I get MLB.TV for free (again, through partner's TMobile subscription) and can watch/listen 162 Red Sox games that way (obviously without my extra subscriptions I couldn't watch the 10ish/year on Apple TV, national broadcast, or in-market, but I could still listen to those via At Bat). And that same subscription also gives me access to literally thousands of other games. If I paid out of pocket, it would be $150 for the season, whereas base price for Sunday Ticket is $350 for the season.
I will say that, at the risk of sounding like a white-haired "Back in my day" guy, it is remarkable to stop and remember how different things are than when I was a kid in the early 90s. Back then the Pats were either blacked out, live on TV, or on a crackly radio feed. Unless I remembered to tape the game, I had to wait until SportsCenter or the sports section of the local news to watch highlights.
Now I have a pocket-sized computer that can show me a live video feed of the game anywhere I am, and automatically allow me to pause and record as I see fit, with real-time analysis by journalists and fans available on social media and this site in real-time. It's kinda miraculous.
Like a number of others on here, I (secretly?) don't really enjoy the in-stadium NFL experience. A few times I've had fancy seats, which were lovely, but when you're in a nose bleed in the upper deck? The weather is often terrible, the traffic is a nightmare, and even inside the stadium I can't really see what's happening most of the time ("Did he catch it? Did he get the foot he needed?").
Whereas at home I can stay cozy and warm for a fraction of the cost drinking my own beer and actually seeing the game in HD. And yeah, tailgates are fun, but you can also invite a few people over and tailgate that way, y'know?
And for the record, I know I’m in the minority and I love that fans go and get nuts and scream on 3rd downs and have fun at tailgates. And I love live baseball, basketball, hockey, even golf and some college football as well. Live pro football from bad seats in "football" weather just doesn't really do it for me. (To continue the aside, I find NFL training camp to be delightful. The parking and attendance are both free, traffic isn't much of a problem, you can get close enough to see what's happening, the weather is hot but usually manageable, etc.)

One thing on the schedule... getting CIN week one is pretty bad luck, basically the worst week to play them is week 1 when Burrow hasn't had a chance to get himself hurt yet.
Burrow is also just 1-3 in his first games of the season the last 4 years. Only win in OT.
Generally playing playoff type teams though.
I'd rather have taken my chances with CIN later when you're likely either getting banged up Burrow or Browning than hoping Burrow has some 1st game rust issues.
I don't mind playing CIN right off the bat before (possibly) their offense has the chance to get in a groove.
Eh, Chargers, Vikings, Steelers and Browns have been their Week 1 opponents since 2020. Not exactly a murderers' row. Burrow has generally started slow throughout his career, passer rating isn't the best stat, but September has been his worst month by that measure every year save for 2021.
Even though he's rehabbing a major injury, this still might be the most normal offseason he's had if he can stay healthy in camp. He came in as a rookie with all the Covid restrictions, his second year he was rehabbing a torn ACL/MCL, his third year he had appendicitis in camp and last year was the major calf strain. The wrist seems to be progressing at the rate it should so if he can get through camp, I think he'll be ready to roll.

And the ratings discrepancy is pretty stark. Just more evidence that the NFL is a unicorn in its ability to draw eyeballs to games nationally.
