Josh Gordon will be in camp and will be allowed to be with the team during his 4 game suspension. The NFL altered its policy for him.

Without getting into the whole #deflategate angle, this is interesting. I read a story the other day talking about Brady, and that he won't be allowed at the team facility, no team activities, etc during his suspension. I wonder why the rule is different for players?

I'm definitely not a defender of the NFL, but I'm glad Gordon isn't being isolated, even if he's getting preferred treatment as compared with Brady (and many others). Gordon seems really "at risk" - not nearly as much as Manziel, but possibly on the same road...

I'm not sure I see the difference in policy here.

Brady can do all the stuff it appears Gordon can (at least in the article I found) unless the altered policy is that Gordon can also practice during the four game suspension.

Do we have a link to how the policy was altered for Gordon?

edit - bah... should have gone with espn link. Desire to avoid it bit me in the butt. So yeah. It's strange, but hopefully it helps him.

Apparently Jordy Nelson had a "hiccup" with his knee and is out for a bit. Bad news for the Pack, potentially.

This isn't about any current NFL player, but it's still interesting: http://www.tmz.com/2016/07/26/marcus-vick-runs-over-cops-captured-at-gunpoint/

Michael Vick's bro still has some moves.

It all started at a gym in Newport News, Virginia -- when cops were questioning the 32-year-old about a warrant out for his arrest stemming from a civil case.

Vick spoke with cops for nearly 10 minutes before suddenly deciding to make a run for it -- shoving 2 cops out of the way, breaking tackles -- and SPRINTING down the street.

Cops gave chase ... but Vick is WAYYYYYYY FASTER (he ran a 4.42 in the 40 at the 2006 NFL Combine).

It seemed like he was going to get away -- but the cops stayed with him, and Vick eventually tired out ... sat down on the ground and gave himself up.

Did they change it for him? I thought it's been like this for awhile. Von Miller practiced a few years ago while suspended.

Edit: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/07/25/josh-gordon-can-stay-with-team-during-four-game-suspension-to-start-season/

Looks like there was a limit that if it was over a year, you couldn't participate.

Jackson III was a player I liked for the Patriots. Bad news for him.

Must've torn it from the insertion point I'm guessing. I've torn mine twice, and it was only 4-6 weeks out, but my tear was in what the doc called the "hamburger meat" part.

Revis on WFAN says he's open to moving to safety in the future.
He's great, so not that he can't learn. But wasn't his worst year spent in a zone in TB? And to my eyes he looked much better with the Pats after a couple weeks when they switched to playing less zone.

I feel like the angry neighbors in What About Bob anytime I hear about something like this. Then I think that's a pretty immature response. Then I shrug and smile anyway.

You know, some casual fans say they'd rather watch paint dry than watch the preseason...that wasn't meant to be taken literally

Mysterious locker room attendant seen taking paint to the bathroom before the game.

Suck it Roger. Sucks for the fans that made that journey and have the game be cancelled.

League screws up and the league finds scapegoats that they can blame. It's the same old song and dance (my friend)

Jim Isray offers up some ready-made scapegoats for the latest league screwup...

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/08/07/jim-irsay-this-incompetence-cant-happen-again/

“This shouldn’t happen,” Irsay said on ESPN. “It’s not difficult. Obviously, everyone out there says, ‘You’re a $12 billion league. How can you have a field not ready to go?’ Well, the Hall of Fame is sort of separate and gets run a little different from the league. . . . We’ll have to get it right so it never happens again.
“It comes down to detail,” he said. “We are only as good as our equipment man.”

“This shouldn’t happen,” Irsay said. “Yes, we’re upset. . . . We have to make it right to our fans and also get to the bottom of exactly who got this paint job done and why was there incompetence.”
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/08/07/irsay-should-seek-answers-from-some-of-his-partners-goodell/

While technically accurate, plenty of overlap exists, starting with the leadership of the Hall of Fame. The Board of Trustees includes Commissioner Roger Goodell and nearly 25 percent of the league’s owners: Mike Brown of the Bengals; George McCaskey of the Bears; Jimmy Haslam of the Browns; Jerry Jones of the Cowboys; Dan Rooney of the Steelers; Dan Snyder of Washington; and Denise DeBartolo York of the 49ers.

I blame the Ideal Paint Law, but the NFL is refusing the possibility.

Rio is in a depression, has sewage for water and an infectious disease outbreak and can hold the olympics. The NFL can't paint grass

where I was last at
I heard that it was overheard that Belichick was heard saying he wants to tinker with the paint after touchdown protocol.

Clearly there are Pats finger-paints all over this.

where the darn libs live
Could / should the Patriots trade for Joey Bosa's draft rights?

They had no first round pick last year obviously - but if you can move a future 1st + stuff for Bosa.... is it worth it? And moreover... would Goodell freak out?

"I didn't consider science"

"While the HOF field situation underscored the challenges in working with third parties, ultimately I am accountable for ensuring the field is of the highest standard," said Vincent, who added that the league's football operations department "must demand and expect an extra level of detail in adhering to NFL standards ... for non-club fields."
