As a Niners fan aren't you rooting for a possible home game next week?
I'm a Patriots fan, always. The Niners come and go with me. I loved them during the Walsh, Montana and Young years and liked the coming of Harbaugh. Lately, I don't care if they win or lose. It's not a conscious decision thing, just a feeling. Same with the SF Giants.

So fucking stupid.  Going to get called every single time.

Isn't fifteen yards worth having the other's team best receiver spend the rest of the day in a dark quiet room?

Not only do you not do it on third down, you don't do it on the first series of the game when it puts Seattle in field goal range, keeps all the momentum on their side, and more importantly, keeps the fans going crazy.  The Seahawks have won all year long without Harvin. Losing him basically means nothing, IMO.  Giving up points and keeping the fans going insane is way, way more important.

Tell me what an NFL defender is supposed to do on that play, where a receiver overbalances, and his head level moves in a matter of less than a second. If Harvin hadn't fallen forward, he would have hit him square in the chest. The two options are dive at his knees, or to pull up, right?

Ed, I'm not saying there is a 'better' alternative to what he did, nor do I necessarily like the rule, but the impetus is on the defender to not hit the guy in the head.  Whether it means going at the knees, pulling up or simply trying to slow up and wrap up with your arms, you cannot go in there hunting like you used to, and you have to know that in that situation.

I suppose that's true. I guess the lesson is that a defender really just can't lower his head anymore on those plays, because he'll lose sight of what's happening. Even if he was looking, though, I'm not sure it's possible to react quickly enough to dodge.

Also, so are we all in agreeance that Seattle is now violating concussion protocol, too? That's team number 3 this post season?

Was that a Jack Sikma card on Ryan's defense play chart? If so, kind of awesome.

Ryan always has weird stuff on his play chart. When was was last in New England he had an ad for a local Italian take-out place.

right here
How do you get to 22 points allowed? That's what he said, right? 22 first quarter points all year with no TDs?

Hey Saints, you know Jimmy Graham is on your team right? Get him involved.

Saints need to hope for a huge Seahawks mistake, because they're currently getting buried.

I see no evidence of this -- Harvin didn't look concussed straight off.

Jene Bramel, who I've found to be one of the best twitter follows regarding NFL injuries, had a couple tweets that suggest Seattle rushed him back:

@JeneBramel
Concussion evaluations designed to take 15 minutes. Harvin back in 10. He is at least third player in playoffs to push limits of protocol.

@JeneBramel
For the record, I’m not saying Harvin suffered a concussion. Suspicion obv was identified. But locker room cognitive tests take > 8-10 mins.
