Not much discussion last night about the games, which I thought were better than tonight's on paper.

7:15 #11 UCLA (22-12) vs. #2 Gonzaga (34-2)

7:37 #8 NC State (22-13) vs. #4 Louisville (26-8)

9:45 #5 Utah (26-8) vs. #1 Duke (31-4)

10:07 #7 Michigan St. (25-11) vs. #3 Oklahoma (24-10)

I'm trying to wrap my head around CBS's logic for airing UCLA-Gonzaga at 4:15 Pacific time, considering anyone with a 9-to-5 job in that time zone is going to miss at least the first half, and 80% of LA-area fans will still be stuck in their vehicles by the time that game ends.

Well Duke and Mich St. are the only real draws tonight and this schedule gets them in prime time for most/all of the country.

Neither team is shooting well tonight.  Defense and rebounding is going to win this

And the refs sure want to see bonus time quickly for both teams tonight

After shooting bricks early on, NC State with a spirited run at the end of the half. Tremendous action as the Wolfpack grab the lead 33-31 over Louisville.

UCLA comes out hot to start the second half and pulls within one before Gonzaga calls a time out.

Excellent passing there by the Zags.

And then there's the worst, most awkward running jumper I've seen in decades.

I'd say they've successfully righted the ship. Full steam ahead.

I sure hope so.  What I love about this team is how when the outside guys cant shoot for shit someone like Karnowski steps up

I really loathe these elevated courts. Nothing is worse than Vanderbilt's but this one is awful nonetheless.

Sabonis hurt his knee.  Not good for his game as he's a big energy guy.  Hopefully its a walk it off injury

Might need to work on Karnowski's conditioning in the off season

I'm nervous but rationally I know Gonzaga in 2006 relied on outside shooting and this year they are winning this game inside

I believe that Dranginis three was the first three pointer made by either team in the second half

Karnowski is listed at 288 on Gonzaga's team site. He also attended Nicolas Copernicus High School in Torun, Poland.

Once they changed the orientation of the courts in football stadiums, they had to elevate them. They used to put them in one of the end zones and build bleachers on the other side. Now. they put them on the 50 yard line and they have to elevate them to make it work. It is especially absurd in Houston. You may remember the 2011 final four was there and nobody could shoot. Everyone scored 50 points. Butler made like 11 baskets in the final. I went to that final four and the set up was absurd. Hard to describe. It looked like an elevated post card floating on a sea of people. A basketball court basically takes up the space between the 35s on a 120 yard football field, and Houston is a fifa compluant soccer stadium built that way to try to woo the world cup. It's cavernous. For this regional, they have the curtains up so it's better now, but they still have the elevated court.

Happily the NCAA after a five year experiment of putting one or two regionals in a football stadium each year is going back to all basketball arenas prior to the final four, I believe, for at least the next three years.

OK, if the Wolfpack can send Pitino home in angst-ridden tears, my evening will be complete.

Poor Verne is losing it on air at the moment. Just confused and babbling. Goodness.

Ok, ten teams left and I hate half of them. Go Zags or Cats (Arizona) I guess.

They follow their coach's lead.
Did you just call one of the greatest college basketball minds in the history of the game not that smart?

He revolutionized advanced stats in the 80's over two decades before it became common throughout the game. Horrible person? Perhaps. Brilliant coach? Arguing this is foolish.

they need to go all the way and nix FF's there too.

When you have Gonzaga, Duke, UCLA and Utah all missing like this, it's no coincidence

I was referring to the person, not the basketball strategist.

Ok agreed then. How many guys go golfing with one of their best friends by day and bang his wife behind his back at night? Then pay for the abortion. Swell guy.

MSU can't hit the broad side of a barn. Meanwhile, OU is running & gunning. 18-8 Sooners.

I agree, but think it's never going to happen. I think some are better than others. The Alamo Dome seems to work. The old Indy stadium seemed ok. That four level barn in Houston is terrible, and I think the new Indy place sucks too.
