aggy is very fortunate to be down by only 13.

Rumlin is second only to Mack Brown for getting less out of more. Great recruiter, average coach.
Watching this game, it feels like they're down by double that.

And yet, they're still in the game if they can take their heads out of their asses.

Wait, Rutgers had players dismissed because they were in a home invasion???

And that's why the sharps are sharp. Line begging people to bet Utah all week.

Can only hope this holds true in Foxborough tomorrow.

Rutgers has had like 7 major off field issues this year, so this doesn't surprise me.  Their wide receiver, Caroo, who had 9td's in 13 quarters coming into tonight missed a couple of games after he allegedly slammed his girlfriend to the ground by the neck outside the stadium after the game, while she was fighting with another girl.  I'm surprised how little play their arrests and stuff have gotten this year in the media. They are like the Cincinatti Bengals of a few years ago.

I made a post earlier in the thread about Navy QB, Keenan Reynolds reaching 75 rushing touchdowns and knocking on the door Montee Ball's 77 for the FBS record.  I believe Ball also has the most combined rushing/receiving touchdowns at 83.

I bring this up again because Louisiana Tech RB, Kenneth Dixon had 4 td's today (3 rush, 1 receiving) after missing a few games with injuries. By my count, he now has 62 touchdowns rushing and another 11 receiving for a total of 73.  Were it not for injuries, he would have shattered both records by now.  As a freshman, he had 28 total td's, and then got hurt his sophomore year and only had 5, and then came back with another 28 as a junior, and so far in his injury shortened year this year, he has 12.

Uggh, one of the four people that died in the Oklahoma State tragedy today was a fucking 2 year old, and 5 of the 8 that are still hospitalized are children.  25 year old local woman in custody for DUI.  Unbelievably horrible.

yeah, haven't been back to Stillwater in months. just furious at this horrible selfish person. You'd have to be very wasted to be going 50 at that intersection. I've felt sick about it all day.

Holy shit, Georgia Tech converts a huge fourth down on a deep pass.  3 minutes left, down by 3 against FSU, deep in FSU territory.

Glad to see you're ok. This news has been a black cloud on this whole day.

And the news it could have been on purpose just makes me sick.

Tech ties it up.  FSU now driving back, and of course, they have the best kicker in college football, so they don't need to get too far.

As I type, Dalvin Cook catches a dump pass, and takes it to about the 40.  Announcers saying they need another 6 or so yards, but I think they need even less for Aguayo.

Aguayo has never missed a kick in the 4th quarter, 20/20 on field goals, 39/39 on extra points.  Would be about 56 yards from right here.  10 seconds left, no timeouts, and they are going to run one more play.  Strange.

Anyone know the record for worst loss (point differential) of a top 3 team to an unranked team?

Cause Utah might be leading in the clubhouse after tonight.

Kansas beat Oklahoma in 1975, 23-3. Oklahoma was ranked #1 at the time and had run off 28 in a row.

Can someone explain kickoff hijinx to me? Rutgers just scored a TD against Ohio St with 13 seconds left, to make the score 49-7. On the ensuing kickoff, Rutgers lined up 5 guys in close formation on the right side of the hash, and 5 guys in close formation on the left side of the hash. The kicker stepped up as if he was about to kickoff, and then all the Rutgers players that were in tight formation suddenly spread out across the field much like a normal kickoff. The kicker then stepped forward, turned around, then moved back further from the ball. A few seconds later they kicked the ball off. It was almost like a marching band routine.
Please tell me there's a method to this madness. Rutgers played as if they forgot it was tackle football, but then with 13 seconds left and down 42 pts they suddenly show off some marine corps caliber kickoff maneuver that serves absolutely no purpose as far as I can tell. What the hell? Can some one explain what the hell?

Teams will do this to see how the defense reacts.  They are taught that if the defense reacts a certain way, kick an onside kick and if they don't, then kick it deep or squib kick it, etc  In that situation, it sounds like Rutgers probably had a play in which they could onside kick it to either the right or the left, if OSU overloaded one side vs. the other.  The fact that they did it while down 42 points doesn't make a ton of sense, unless they just wanted to get some free practice in working on the formation, maybe had some new guys they were putting out there and wanted them to run through it in game conditions, but they never had any intention of actually going with an onside kick in that situation.

Notre Dame took the week off and still had by far its best weekend of the season - look at what the teams on their schedule managed to accomplish:
  • Texas defeated Kansas State 23-9
  • Georgia Tech shocked #9 FSU 22-16 (kick-six)
  • UMass put a massive scare into #19 Toledo before wilting in the second half
  • Clemson crushed Miami 58-0
  • Navy cruised past Tulane 31-14
  • USC throttled #3 Utah 42-24
  • Temple (next week's opponent) improved to 7-0 by beating East Carolina 24-14
  • Pitt won at the buzzer against Syracuse 23-20 to improve to 6-1 (only loss was to unbeaten Iowa)
  • Stanford beat Washington 31-14
The other ACC dregs on their schedule - Virginia, Wake Forest and Boston College - all lost, but these sorts of results are exactly what the Irish need to have any chance of getting into the playoff as a one-loss team.

Notre Dame's "conference championship" game very likely will be against Stanford on the last weekend in Novewmber. They win they probably have a legit argument to be in the playoffs. They lose it is time to wait til next year. But they still have to beat not only Stanford but a surprisingly tough Pitt team.

And I know it's likely a mirage but they have to play a 7-0 Temple team next week too.
