So I'm of two minds here:

1--Celtics aren't really going to the finals, so LBJ losing would be entertaining.

2--The Cavs can beat the Raptors (mostly because LBJ would get the calls), whereas I think the Raptors would cruise over Indy. Should the Celtics get to the ECF, I'd rather have a fun match-up against LBJ than a rested Toronto team.
Not that I'd give the Celtics more than a punchers chance if they did play Toronto, but they did play the Raps 3 times this year without Kyrie and beat them twice.

Oladipo is a monster. I love his game.
He's so damn good on both ends. Only thing I don't love about his game, is sometimes, when his shots aren't falling, he can press, and end up with some dreadful shooting nights, instead of recognizing it's not there and looking to get others involved or go to the hoop, etc. But, those nights are starting to become rarer and rarer, especially the last few weeks.

Indiana is simply outworking Cleveland. This isn't to say the score will hold up - I fully expect the Cavs to make a run. However, if you simply look at effort exerted on both ends, the Pacers are killing the Cavs there too.

The Cavs run is here, and it's real.

Oladipo is 50% (12/24) from the free throw line in April. Normally, he shoots 80%. Something to keep an eye on in this series. He's 3/8 today.

OK kids at home, remember—punch the guy in the head AFTER the whistle.

The reaction after that trade was that Indy got swindled (that was certainly my reaction) but so far it’s worked out for both sides.
I thought the same, but the trade was a huge win for Indy--very rare to get that kind of value for a superstar who's out the door in a year.

Pretty impressive how the Pacers and Bulls got more for George and Butler who everyone expected to be traded than the Cavs got for Kyrie.

I was told they would "turn it on" or something.
Its coming. The Cavs dont take game ones at home seriously anyhow. They will turn it up in the second or third round for sure.

Seriously, RO nailed it. The Cavs defensive issues are real. And while they may still beat Indiana, this flaw will be exposed in later rounds.

Edit: ...or maybe this one...

I'm glad the "let's all wear the same shirt the team gives out" idea hasn't made it to Boston yet.

i rather enjoy a raucous garden with a ton of green in the seats. would it be preferable if it weren’t organized? sure. but i think we get a pass for having one of the loudest home courts in the NBA.

Am I being a hater, or is a team that "allows" the likes of Bellinili and Reddick to kill 'em with 3s, is a team that is playing soft?
Those two are emminently shutdownable if you stay in their faces (especially on the defensive end)
Reddick is a master at finding space on offense, though. It's not like nobody in the NBA has ever thought of defending him tightly.

warning: rant ahead

It always amazes me that people think that pro athletes who lose are simply not giving enough effort and allowing themselves to lose. Most high level athletes are 1) unbelievably good at their sport and extremely competitive, and 2) unbelievably stupid at handling real life problems.

The admittedly tiny number of pros I know would all want to kill you if you beat them at ping pong. When in doubt assume that athletes care too much about winning and losing rather than too little. I will freely criticize NBA players for being dumb with money and women, but never for being soft.

Love a game where free throws are 7-0 halfway through the first quarter.
And the team taking the FTs is the one getting screwed. Thibs going with the classic "they can't call all of them" approach. Minnesota is hacking like crazy and only getting called for about 1 in 10.

chris paul just hip-checked teague into next week, wasn’t called, then drained a wide-open 3.

the color guy (billups? webber?), who has been fellating the rockets all game, says it’s a judgement call on the ref, based on “how he’s feelin”

wow.

It was Webber. This is by far the worst announce team on a major network, Marv is so washed. All year it's been clear he doesn't know who half the players are and can't tell what's happening (I wonder if his eyes are bad?)

I actually like Webber. I’ve been bashing them all weekend but Breen/JVG/Jackson is by far the worst announce team in basketball.

The problem is that with the ball in Simmons hand you can't simple "stay in their faces" as their defender needs to be aware/available to help shutdown dribble penetration and defend in pick-n-rolls. . He is playing the NBA game like he's Chris Paul with the ball in recognizing when and where to go with his dribble to create space for his shooters.

Edit: Derrick Rose looking very spry tonight. We haven't seen this type of explosiveness to the rim from him in a long time.

Eh, given the price of playoff tickets, I don't mind if fans get a free T-shirt in the process. Plus, there's always the chance to show off your "playoff T-shirt" later. OKC has been in the playoffs enough that it seems like everyone has a play-off T-shirt but me......
