And they did all this in short order after losing Roy and Oden for nothing due to injury. Pretty impressive.
Neil Olshey deserves a lot of credit. It seems like every move he has made since arriving has hit.

Pacers at Warriors -- great post moves, great entertainment. Both teams are shooting the lights out.

The Pacers and Warriors must be the two most entertaining teams in the league today.

Melo just capped a 37 point first half with a halfcourt shot at the buzzer, not sure if he's happier to be on the All-Star team or that Bargnani is finally out hurt.

Up to 43 very quickly, his career high is 50, Knicks alltime best is 60, MSG record is 61(Kobe).

They're winning by too much, though, he's not going to get to play a full game. Still a good shot at 60, though...

Looks like Woodson's gonna let him ride, and he's looking to score every time he touches it.  He should press 70.  This is some All-Star Game level defense right now, on both sides.

I don't think he'll play in the 4th, and he'll end up mid-fifties. He's at 51 now, career high.

Fake edit: 54, heh.

56 through 3, that is already the most in the NBA for anyone this year, topping all those Durant games.

He really shouldn't still be in there, but I think he wants the Knicks and the MSG records.

Really nice that Bernard King happens to be here for this, loved that dude so much growing up.

He's pretty much on fumes now, but another drive or two should get him past Kobe.

Yeah, I read that long three as "OK, I wanna get this done and take a seat."

Going on ESPN and seeing that he had 62 points, I swore he was going to have at least 40 shots, but he managed to do it in 35. I don't like Melo as a franchise player, I still think he shoots too much and doesn't play enough d, and Woodson and NY let him gun for the points, but 62 points is 62 points. Well done.

62 points and 0 assists sums up Carmelo as a player perfectly.
If anybody else on the court could shoot he'd have had five. Felton clanged at least two by himself.

I'm not a Carmelo guy either, but he also had 13 rebounds and 0 turnovers tonight. If a guy is on a roll where he can score 62 points while using 35 possessions, he should keep doing what he's doing.

50-47 GS with 7 minutes until the half. Timberwolves were rolling but holy hell, their bench is terrible.

I didn't see any of tonight's game, but I imagine it looked something like his Team USA vs Nigeria performance? When he's on he's as good as it gets.

Until his legs went, there was nothing that was not going in. Two steps in from half-court to end the half? Why the fuck not.

The NBA All-Star game is mostly for fun, so I don't think they need to get rid of fan voting. It is telling though, that the NBA has enough dumb fans that would vote for a guy who hasn't played a half-dozen games into the all-star game over say, Damian Lillard.

Also, if John Wall was Uncle Drew he would be a starter this year.
So Carmelo at the 4 and Lebron at the 5?

I'm far from Melo's biggest fan, but NY gets a ton of baskets after he gets doubled, passes, and that guy passes for an open shot/basket. Basketball stats almost all suck, both the box score ones and the 'advanced' ones (at least the publicly available ones).

Enormous breakout game by Terence Ross for the Raptors against the Clippers. Gay was traded, now deRozan is injured, so Ross needs to be The Man. Well, tonight he is.

I was at the Timberwolves/Warriors game last night and as large as Nikola Pekovic looks on television, he looks larger in real life.  He is such a load and was a big reason (along with shitty Warrior defense and Mark Jackson's inexplicable decision to put the struggling Harrison Barnes on the floor for the final shot sequence) the Wolves won.  He was simply impossible for Andrew Bogut to contain as he could catch the ball six feet from the basket and then use some impressive spin moves to bank the ball in off the backboard.

If the Wolves can somehow keep Love and add some bench shooting, they are going to be very good. MakMan mentions it upthread but their bench is horrific but their starting five of Pekovic, Love, Martin, Rubio and the annoying Cory Brewer are nothing to sneeze at.

Yup, it's a pretty big reason they lost last night. Also, it'd pretty funny watching Ricky Rubio turn over the ball in big spots if it wasn't so sad.

Ross has a sweeeeeeeeeeeet stroke. All that arc on his jumper, great elevation. And that dunk in transition was electric.

If he gets his shooting percentages off the bounce up he's going to be a problem. Right now he's a spot-up guy.

San Antonio has gotten killed by good teams so far this year, crazy splits:

1-11 combined against POR, OKC, HOU, MIA, IND, LAC
32-1 against the rest of the league

And even their one win against the top teams was against LAC, the first game after Chris Paul got hurt.

Washington Wizards come into Oakland and win an awful, totally forgettable mid-season game against a sputtering Golden State Squad.  Washington shot a miserable 37.8% (45.5% from three point range) from the field, but it was good enough given that the Dubs shot 37.5% (30.4% from three point range).

Bradley Beal came alive in the second half and was essentially the difference in this game.  He and Wall are going to be a hell of a tandem for this squad.

A Lost Time
Interesting fact about the Wizards is that they re 12-11 on the road and 10-11 at home. I think they and Detroit are the only teams to have a worse road record. Not coincidentally, I think these are two of the arenas where the home crowd is dead ( although Detroit used to be a much more tough place to play in I understand).

NY was in that club until they won three in a row at home this week, kind of crazy for a team who was 31-10 at home last year (they were 7-15 at home this year, now 10-15).

OKC easily handled Miami tonight, 112-95. KD kept his streak alive, thoroughly outplaying Lebron and posting 33-7-5. Lebron finished with 34-3-3, and a +/- of -17.

If there is a silver lining to a huge amount of teams sucking ass, it is that the few contending teams are incredibly loaded and will make for exciting series to close out the season.

Anthony Bennett has been burned so badly by the Knicks so far that he can't even make it into the picture to be posterized.

Jamal Crawford is the most annoying player in the NBA.  Not only is he a grade A chucker/black-hole but he also excels at getting those fucking four point play foul calls.   He is my least favorite Crawford (including Joey) and player in the NBA.

netw3rk: That Curry three actually caused GSW fans to head for the exits, such was its power.

The Warriors won this game decisively but its against a tired, CP3-less Clips squad who is playing a ton of games on the road of late.  The good news is that Golden State's bench is playing very well over the past few weeks - Barnes had 10 points in the first half and Mo Speights, whom I had written off earlier in the season, has been giving the Warriors good hard-working minutes as their back up big.  Still, they aren't going to shoot 50% from the field every night like tonight.

But a win against a division and conference rival is like gold these days, especially since some very good NBA teams are going to be sitting home come playoff time, bitterly watching the Leastern Conference playoffs and lamenting their geography...

On one hand, yes, the Clippers are in pieces.

On the other, I just watched Curry wiggle the right stick aimlessly and drain a three over a guy. So I don't really care.

Bit of a deflating games for the Timberwolves tonight, putting up nearly double the points on the Grizzlies in the 3rd to tie the game, only to lose.

Utah is beating Golden State in 77-68 with ~9 minutes left in the fourth.  David Lee is out and the only saving grace for the Warriors is Curry with 31.    The '13-14 Warriors are teh epitome of a team that plays down to the level of its competition...
