Time for a new thread and you probably know why I am starting it.  For those stuck at home and sick of college football, its the Warriors at Heat.  Let's see how Golden State, with five six wins in a row, stacks up against one of two beasts of the East.

After one quarter, my observations are that the Warriors will not finish the game with 79% from the field and that if Klay Thompson continues to turn the ball over, the Heat will win this game quite handily.

Warriors up 15. I'd be surprised if the Heat don't come back and make a game of it.

Oh this game is going to be a close one at the end.  The NBA, where runs happen...

Oh, you meant under-rated, right?

Warriors beat the Heat in Miami 123-114 behind Curry and Lee combining for 68 points.  Lee made Bosh his bitch tonight.  First Western Conference team to beat the Heat in Miami this season and the only Western Conference team to win there twice in the past two years.  Seven wins in a row now.  Statement game.

Eight straight for Golden State.  Iguodala hits a last second three and the Dubs win by one in Atlanta 101-100 after being down 15 at one point in the fourth.

A Lost Time
the Knicks managed to mangle another good game by failing in crunch time vs the Rockets.

In an unrelated note, I am surprised by Isaiah Thomas on NBA tv. I expect to hate him, but he sounds reasonable. I guess being a good GM means that you re better than just sounding reasonable on TV.

Sorry but I can't resist.  In a game which probably had the lowest rating in the history of Bay Area sporting events, the Warriors beat the Wizards in D.C. 112-96 behind a 34-15 third quarter (it was 30-5 at one stretch).  Klay Thompson had 26 points to lead Golden State but the offensive highlight of the night was when Steph Curry tossed an alley-oop to Andrew Bogut off the glass.   Check it out on NBA.com or the hoops highlight source of your choice.

Nine straight for the Dubs now, 5-0 on their longest road-trip of the season (with two more games to go at Milwaukee, Tuesday and then BKNY on Wednesday).  They also climbed into a tie for first in the division with the Clippers with this win.

Gerald Green hit a game winning shot in a nationally televised game tonight. Yeah.

BK finally ends the Warriors streak, and now takes over as the longest winning streak in the NBA. Appears they're starting to figure a few things out.

OT in BKNY between the Heat and the Nets.  Brooklyn has the last shot and the choose to go with a Johnson ISO which results in an off-balance fall-away that clangs off the iron.  The Nets somehow get the rebound with eight secs left and Pierce takes a deep three that clangs too.

Where is the diversity in the playcalling? It annoys me no end. These situations you can call many things e.g. call multiple screens for a corner shooter, or a slip screen or a throw into the post with another player diving to basket and another being a spot-up shooter waiting

Watching Pierce's corpse is depressing me
Pierce nails a huge 3 to put Brooklyn up 7 in 2OT.

I haven't watched a lot of NBA basketball this year, so this is my first time really watching the Nets play.  And it's really strange seeing Pierce in a different uniform.  Almost like watching Pedro pitch for the Mets.

He still has the step back move but his days of getting to the rim are over. KG is missing so many shots this year that used to be so automatic.

Oh I know.  Watching these guys get old sucks but it sucks less now that they aren't in Celtic green.  I have no doubt Pierce is coming back to Boston in the offseason though, barring a Nets run into the finals this summer.

Watching Swaggy P clank a shot off back-iron, followed by the NBA's biggest black hole (Jamal Crawford) drive down and miss a lay-up pretty much summarizes how disgusting this Lakers @ Clippers game really is.

That Blake 360 layup.

I'm still standing and pacing around.

Crazy game in Houston tonight. HOU goes up 73-59 at halftime over the struggling-with-no-Westbrook OKC team…

and somehow manage to only score 19 total points in the second half to lose 104-92, unsurprisingly an alltime NBA record for point differential by a team in halves.

It was crazy. I was ready to go to bed after the first half, but was happy to see the Thunder tighten up their defense and win in the end. Poor Houston -- live by the three pointer, die by the three pointer.

Bumping this thread because if you want to see a fun basketball game, put on the Warriors at the Thunder.  With just under four minutes left in this game, its 55-all, Durant as 22 points, Klay Thompson has 21, and Curry has 15.  OKC is shooting 64% from the field while the Warriors are shooting 54%.

...and before I can finish posting, Durant get a three point play.  25 now....

Crawford is doing the same thing for the Warriors that he did for the Celtics: dribbling into traps, making the occasional circus shot, pounding the ball, and dribbling it off his foot.

Yep, then he redeems himself with an impossible three.  OKC is fucking unconscious tonight.   58.7% from the field.   And yet this game is likely to come down to the last possession.

Durant just hit a heat check dagger from somewhere in Norman.  Then he hits a sick two for 52 with 4 minutes left.

KD was a beast tonight.  54 points.  67.9% from the field.  5/9 from three point land.  Just amazing.  Meanwhile the Warriors got 37 from Curry and 26 from Thompson and couldn't make a game out of it.

Was Harrison Barnes drunk tonight? 0-4 with no pts, assists, rebs, steals, or blocks? Oh yeah...and 5 fouls. He literally did nothing but miss a few shots and foul people. Yikes.

He looked awful.  He is either hurt or there is something else going on.  He has lacked his explosiveness so I am going with the former.

Durant has the best game for a scorer that can be imagined. Fantastic size and athletcism, great cordination and just as comfortable taking to the rack as he is hitting a turnaround three from 30 feet away. From an effeciancy standpoint, he might be the greatest scorer ever. He dropped 54 tonight and most of that came within the rhthym of the game, which is scary. Not until the final few minutes of the game did it seem like Durant was gunning for points, it just felt that his team needed them. Phenomenal.

Warriors often bring out the best in the Thunder and vice versa. Looking forward to seeing both teams at full strength some day. Westbrook needs to let his knee heal, but the Thunder are so much better with him in the line-up. He just brings that extra swagger and energy.

Pacers vs. Clippers: Hibbert is an eraser, not as athletic as Jordan, but bigger and more effective at getting into the heads of would-be drivers.

David West has a great post game. He earns a double team.

How did the rest of the league whiff on George Hill?

Paul George delivers a reverse 360. The Pacers are looking awfully good.

He seems very Jeff Green-ish to me, complete with a mix of athletic dunks and inexplicable disappearing acts.

When they are on, they look like the part of a really good NBA player.  But they just aren't on nearly enough, and don't add anything useful on the offensive end if they aren't scoring (mediocre rebounding, playmaking, etc).

At this rate, Barnes will be very lucky to get Green's contract when his rookie deal is up.

A night after beating the Spurs in San Antonio, the Blazers thump the Mavs in Dallas. One game shy of the halfway point, the Blazers have the best record in the West. I'm pretty sure no one predicted them to be sitting where they are right now. They have been an absolute pleasure to watch.
